Starting planting Garlic (Germidour), recommended sowing apparently is October but weather is still a bit sunny and warm during the day and cold at night, did I plant too early?

  • Planted in pots and raised beds at September 30th.
  • Garlic Germidour. Apparently according to gardening websites sowing season is around October so no problems there.
  • Weather is still a bit sunny during the day averaging about 20+°c and cold during the night around 10-15°c'ish. It is currently October 1st, 23:43pm as of writing and posting and it is currently at 13°C if anyone wants to be specific.
  • Live in UK, hardiness zone is 8b (if you want to be specific).

Did I plant too early and should've waited until mid October at least or am I okay? It's literally my first time planting these and hoping for the best lol.

Lastly, would I need to invest in a poly tunnel and or covers for my garlic plants during the cold weather or are they (Garlic) hardy crops?

Thanks in advance!

If you lived in a cabin in the woods during a worldwide apocalypse (nuclear, zombie or whatever) what animal companions would you want with you?

I'd choose a dog (most probably a German shepherd or a Belgian malinois) to do security around the cabin.

Befriend a wolf somehow and it'd do patrols outside the woodlands of any dangers and alert if needed. It can then communicate with the dog of any dangers ahead.

An eagle, to do aerial patrols around or beyond the woods like a scout.

Anyone know what these are? We planted these from a spinach variety, but this year these grew in place of it. From what I've seen on Google it's apparently called Bird's Nest Fern...

We planted some spinach last year, they grew, we harvested them and died since they were out of season. But as we speak I checked the garden and these grew in place of them, Bird's Nest Fern is what they're called apparently and I'm wondering if they're edible or not since they were planted from the spinach seeds we sown last year. Thanks in advance for the help!
