Rule

My personal one

IIRC Pushback against "Unsafe at any speed" was the literal origin of the conservative think tank as a political movement. I think Behind the Bastards did an episode on it or maybe Stuff you missed in history class?

We have more power than we realize

When all's said and done, I'd rather have proof that ICE ignored 1000 orders than only ignored 10 and nobody challenged the other 990. It's not one or the other, we can still use the court systems to create a trail of accountability while we also work to dismantle the systems being put in place to ignore the courts. As flawed and incomplete as the Nuremberg trials were, they only made it as far as they did because so much was documented by people who thought they'd never be held accountable for their actions. Every ignored court order is the chance to punish someone when they are no longer in power.

And besides, even if they only obey one out of every ten, that's still worth the effort when the alternative is just not trying because people don't think it'll work.

Been browsing reddit since the start of the election. With kamalas loss I'm noticing right wing voices start to emerge. Reddit is going to transition to a right wing platform right before our eyes.

It's because they're offering easy answers to complicated problems. No one wants to listen to me explain for 45 minutes why something is an issue that dates back three decades and will probably require three more decades of fixing, they just want to feel good now.

I do not feel serenity.

I struggle to consider myself a pacifist as the paradox of tolerance is a difficult thing to have to come to terms with and I'm fundamentally a flawed human being, but I so fundamentally hate the presumed human cost of "just doing business". I am filled with a searing, incandescent rage at all times, fueled entirely by the hypocrisy of liberal ideology and the cruelty of conservatives. I'm burning up and trying to avoid melting down just getting through the day, surrounded by people who seemingly willingly refuse to understand nuance on hot issues or that complicated problems oftentimes require complicated solutions. I'm tired, boss.

xkcd #3233: Make It Myself

Oof ouch owwie my entire existence.

My partner has gotten into car detailing and Luke's to clean our hats and shoes. He's happy with his hobbies.

My entire existence is fighting entropy to help save people money when everything breaks, and my hobbies are camping, repairing old Coleman Lanterns and riding/maintaining a 41 year old motorcycle.

Take a guess who feels fulfilled and accomplished with his hobbies more often?

I enjoy my hobbies, honestly, but there's basically never a "done" state for this stuff, just "I can't afford the cost/time to do this lower priority thing right now, I'll revisit it when it starts making strange noises on the highway/actively combining fuel and fire".

I don't even speak German but I was able to get the context of how the 2 protests are treated. The tractors and manure and tires was considered a protest, but increasingly, small groups peacefully shutting down the street to protest a stance the government doesn't want to have protested are being labeled as terrorists.

My biggest weakness and most toxic trait is wanting to see bad people face consequences. That person weaving through traffic at high speeds without a turn signal, with no concern for the safety of everybody else on the road? Please drive off the road, crash, do something that drives home how selfish you are acting, and I hope it's expensive.

Politician campaigning on hate and saying that religion punishes 'wicked' people? I hope a loved one suffers some horrible disease and dies in pain.

Vote for an anti-abortion law? Watch your wife or daughter die of something entirely preventable. Refuse to provide exceptions for rape? Do unto others and all that, you know?

Nazi/christofascist/white supremacist? Worm food. Slowly.

I fix things, that's my whole driving purpose in life, and basically the only thing I'm particularly good at. I have never been very creative, I suck at writing , I'm not a great artist or sculptor or musician. It causes me so much pain and frustration to not be able to fix something, and so much rage to see people deliberately breaking things, doubly so when they delight in the suffering it causes.

Reddit is purging NSFW subs as well as trans-related subreddits (edit: bans are being undone)

I only still go to reddit for that on one account (in incognito). My main account has only recently logged back in for regular browsing (but I try not to comment and I only use old.reddit + res) because Reddit is where a huge amount of the information I'm trying to find online is still housed, game information, niche hobbies, etc... It may be rotting from the inside, but its corpse is still walking and talking, and until the situation gets bad enough people are going to continue using it. I only interact here, but with the nature of how small the communities are, and the fact that I use [All - Top -Past 6 hours] my front page is still basically just the same articles about every fucked up thing going on around me posted onto every instance so I see the same headlines and pictures of Trump almost a dozen times, interspersed with various fetish porn communities.

Small. What an absolute coward

Edit: apparently I haven't been getting comment notifications on Connect, but this was entirely sarcastic, I am well aware of how unreasonable large even some of the small toys are. I am also intimately aware of how unreasonably large the large size is. It frightens me from the bottom of the tote.
