Dude-tier list

I don’t understand the hate for MacOS or Ubuntu frankly. Windows was fine until they stopped making “features” opt in. Fedora has been toying with adding AI, and my experiences with Arch have been subpar for my needs. I’m kinda at the point in my life where I don’t care as long as the OS works. They’re all so similar at the end of the day, they help me do the websites, work tools and vidya gaems.

Sick days

Unfortunately they won't see the consequences either because everyone will get sick and keep coming in, when the owner(s) can just dip out and take a personal day.

Discord Alternatives, Ranked

Discord is a communications platform with tacked on features that resemble forums mostly as a means of organization. It's not a KB or repository under any circumstances outside of misuse, so why would it have to be good at being searched/indexed?

Those who've switched to Linux in the last year, how is it going?

Started on Bazzite and got irritated with how hard it was to do things the way I expected because it’s immutable. Now I’m using Kubuntu and I’m having a decent time since I’ve worked through the setup for what I want. Audio sink for virtual surround works okay, gaming isn’t that big of a fight with Steam and Lutris, most of my work applications are there, I have a windows vm for the odd thing here and there. I’d like noise cancellation like Krisp. I’ve found a few instances where documentation sucks and I have made unsupported things work by simply installing a package, such as my remote access software for work. It stays officially supported but that’s in a specific context that is not the norm. Installing default-jre makes it work like it does on windows. A lot of the forums and Linux oriented communities seem elitist about some specific flavor they like and if you don’t inherently know how to do some obscure procedure when asking for help you get snooty responses, but that’s not a bad as it was when I first tried Linux out.

Sick days

It dips when you're sick, it will dip further when half of a department is sick. It's better to protect everybody else and take a hit for a day or two than spend weeks with people passing around an illness back and forth with reduced productivity.

YSK the four rules of firearm safety

Before I ever got a firearm, or before that paintball gun, I had this driven into me regarding power tools. I hold a drill the same way I hold a gun which I’ve been made fun of for, but I’ve never caught my clothes in a drill bit, or cut myself with a hole cutter like others I know. I also always put the safety on.
