What profound statement has stuck with you over the years?

"It's not your fault, but it is your problem."

I honestly love and repeat this line way too much

Just because you weren't the cause doesn't mean it isn't something you need to worry about/fix. I learned this one from my high school English teacher when a student was late and tried to get out of it by blaming traffic lol. The traffic was not their fault, but it ended up being their problem.

Why do people around me tend to increase their responsibility load (i.e. have children, become a manager, do charity, etc.) while I (30M) try to avoid it as much as I can?

Hello, someone who went to a manager position here! I'm 100% with you, decreasing responsibility means decreasing stress and so is always a priority! However, there are a few reasons one might shoot for the moon anyway.

  1. Ambition. This is the obvious one, some people just want more. More money, more power, more prestige. That is a valid reason to push further but isn't for everyone.

  2. Empathy. Yep you read that right! Ambition isn't the only driving force to take on more responsibility. Empathy can lead people to see the ways to improve others' lives, workloads, and more!

  3. Accidents. Especially with children but also in other areas, accidents happen and can often leave people with more on their shoulders than expected.

I personally am mostly number 2. I saw the terrible leadership that my team has had in the past and the ways I could assist my team to improve. I knew all the complaints and had ideas to fix them so I took the responsibility bullet so they don't have to.

I hope this helps you see into the mind of someone who accepts responsibility, even if it means more stress and less freedom!

Caleb, the ghost, was killed by his brother Phillip, the guy getting scared. His wife informed him that if he was happy, he wouldn't be able to stay, so instead, he is haunting his killer as a vengeful spirit. But humorously, it is depicted as a bland and boring job.

Oddly enough, this kind of contradicts everything we've seen about ghosts so far in these comics. For example, Luz's dad watching over her. That or Evelyn (the wife) is just wrong in what she told Caleb.

If vector art was used, or the outlines were placed/adjusted algorithmicly, this is a relatively normal effect caused by a bad path or stray vertices. While it could have been touched up with AI, I'd personally give the benefit of the doubt on this one

Coffee [MoringMark]

Ok, so Mark's coffee lore is getting intricate.

We know coffee effects witches differently. We know a stronger coffee can knock out a witch. We also know Amity enjoys coffee. We also know it isn't just a difference in how it is made since Luz made regular coffee for Amity and probs wouldn't have made it super different.

So what makes sense would be that Amity doesn't drink coffee to stay awake but to relax. Since the active compounds must be the same (since nothing else about the drink seems to change), caffeine must be a depressant for Witches instead of a stimulant.

Now Hunter has the effect of coffee as a stimulant. So either this is how Grimwalkers in general are affected, OR sine Hunter is a Grimwalker made from Humanity he is affected like a human.

Now we need Jay to drink coffee and have a strong reaction so we can know if it is a Grimwalker thing. Also, it would be interesting to see how it affects Demons, Titans, and Collectors.

[Meta] Negativity in Comments

I don't frequent this community, so please take what I say with a grain of salt, but I'm not seeing many bars/criteria which is what is being requested so I'll throw in my two cents.

\1. If it is reasonable context or updates the average person would want/need, then it should be allowed.

Examples:

"It's great the old lady recovered from her fall down the stairs, but unfortunately, a few hours after this article, she fell down again : ("

"She fell down the stairs because the step height was inconsistent, that needs to be fixed ASAP."

\2. If it is pointed, hostile, or drumming up anger, it should NOT be allowed.

Examples:

"It's the Radical Escalator Group that weakened stair legislation!"

"She should have been more careful. This is clearly on the old lady."

\3. If it is dismissive of the good news or tries to make people feel bad for enjoying the good news, it should NOT be allowed.

Examples:

"Sure SHE recovered, but what about the hundreds of stair fall victims who don't?"

"How does this help anyone?"

"If you don't check the stairs you use and report bad stairs, this is your fault, and you shouldn't be celebrating her recovery."

\4. General negativity that does not needlessly effect others should be allowed.

Examples:

"My grandma fell down the stairs too. Hoping for a recovery"

"My stairs are all messed up too, but sadly I rent, so I can't fix them..."

"This will likely happen again. We should make sure the needed resources for recovery are available, or the next one might not end so happily."

I do think the only punishment should be removal and a warning, but I do not mod, so I'll leave that discussion to the experts.

Edit: formatting x2

Anon is a mastermind

This is really an off my chest moment but when I was in my teens I went out with my aunt and she pulled this. I felt terrible for making the staff do extra work just so she could have fresher and warmer fries. I get it isn't a big deal to make an extra batch, but what if two people pull this? Five? Ten? More?

The Story [MoringMark]

You know, this explains some stuff. Namely, why the guard can be so ineffective. If their final task is to kill one another, Hunger Games style, then you would expect the "best of the best" to be quick to turn on one another for their own safety rather than assisting one another. Even explains why that one guard who found Vee preferred to just let her go for their own safety instead of following directions. That is how they are trained!

Also, as a side note: that also helps explain how Belos went through SO MANY golden guards. You have to assume a good amount failed that test.

Exotic [MoringMark]

This makes me wonder: if witches tend to think human's cars are animals, which is a trend that has been made pretty clear in the past, could Hunter carve a car palisman and have it come to life? Since Skara thinks Roombas are animals could she have had a Roomba palisman in another life?

I want to say there was a comic where she revealed that she knew everything that was going to happen but literally couldn't do anything to stop it because of how her magic worked, and it looked to be driving her a tad crazy. Sadly, I can't find it right now. Maybe it was a different oracle, though we don't have a ton of options lol

How to be a Good Palisman [MoringMark]

Question: Is Stringbean actively flying in front of a person in the human realm??? Luz is NOT paying with snails. Those are dollar bills. Also, if I remember correctly, Azura is a human realm franchise where some leaked into the demon realm, so Azura merch like that wand would be more likely in the human realm.

So either Stringbean is causing Luz to need to do a LOT of explaining, OR - and this is a fun one - could that hand belong to one of Luz's friends who already know and are taking advantage? I could see Hunter doing this to convert snails to dollars lol. Buy something Luz wants using snails and sell it to her in dollars

Coromon is a great attempt with great mechanics and alright visuals, but man, did the pacing just kill it for me. I felt like the entire game was the tutorial, not because it was easy or anything, but because it was the slightly boring do-everything-once-to-learn-it slog that a very well done tutorial is. When I beat the game, I was excited to start playing before I realized it was, actually, seriously, the end.

Slugs often have multiple protrutions on their heads, the issue is that they are not all eyestalks. The mistake is simple and understandable, but its the same idea of drawing a cat with eyes on each whisker.
