Like, seriously, went through the last 10 years spending a good chunk of my day on Twitter and Reddit using Chrome, and suddenly I'm on Lemmy/Mastodon on Firefox.

Reddit mods are calling for an ‘affordable return’ for third-party apps
Interesting how the first thing I felt when I read this was, "I hope Reddit doesn't".
Incredible how fast my fondness of Reddit went away in 1 week.

Google search is over
I tried and it is true here at least. Says Kenya is the closest but although it starts with a K sound, it's spelled with a K sound. lmao
The only time I tried ChatGPT for something that required a little bit of processing it failed miserably. I had a shower thought, "what is the most used noun on lyrics of this band I like?" I asked it and it gave me random words. I decided to investigate and ask it what are specific lyrics of some of the most popular songs and it kept telling me made up lyrics, when I could actually find them immediately on Google.

Apps saying goodbye to Reddit and immediately becoming fediverse apps instead
I gotta admit that I'm a bit disappointed with the owner of Relay for Reddit as he decided to stay and turn it into a subscription model. He might have attached his cart to the wrong horse. That's what I want to believe anyway.

Elon Musk says Twitter’s ad revenue is down 50% and cash flow is negative
One thing that's very fascinating is to go to his tweet and see all the blue checkmarks pitching him suggestions about what to do now, but praising him at the same time for the magnificent work he has done so far, like, "excellent job on steps 1, 2 and 3, now he's what steps 4 and 5 are about-". They can't really believe that, but I guess they do it to try to get a "Agreed" from him? I don't know. Its mystifying.

It's like saying "Black Lives Matter" is racist because the implication is that only black lives matter, when it is actually meant to say black lives also matter. Bad faith interpretation.

He was involved in corruption in the same way any politician with actual power is: he had to play nice with tons of crooked mafia bosses that are established in the system for decades or even centuries.
They literally sweeped his and his family's private life looking for something and had to make stuff up to jail him.
So, please spare us of this relativization of a genocidal dictator wannabe.

Seriously... my oldest account on Reddit was 12 years old. I've been through so many changes that turned me off, but the API stuff was the last blow, and the CEO's love for Elon Musk just sealed the deal.

Does anybody else feel dirty when they visit reddit?
I am waiting for the backup of my data there to be ready so I can destroy my history and delete my account, so for a while I've been visiting daily, but after the CEO expressed his love of piece of shit extraordinaire Elon Musk, I have no interest in ever logging on there again.
