One person can stem the tide of KARENS

That one person? The manager or owner. When I worked at a bar if you kicked off at a FoH like this you’d be asked to calm down or leave. It’s better that way so a chef who’s probably running on 6 hours sleep and lethal-to-normal-humans blood caffeine levels doesn’t come out to see why you made a staff member cry. Also, no touchy the staff, thanks.

This is mobile game ad quality comic or I’d ask if it’s AI.

135⁰c for two hours and seared in the microwave

That’s doesn’t really make sense. The water bath itself usually contains a heating element. Even in that scenario, the water temp is still limited to 100C, would boil off and the oven would just be cooking the sous vide equipment and the vacuum bag. The thermal limit is an inherent property of water where it transition from its liquid to gaseous phase.

Resistance is futile

I just object to 99% of advertising. If someone walked up to me in the street and interrupted what I was doing to try and get me to buy something I’d tell them to fuck off. I was fine with banner ads. Even animated ones. Then they had obnoxious audio, took over screen space and/or auto played. YouTube went from a 1-2 five second ads to ads over a minute. So now they all get blocked.

Bonus rant: Billboards are eco vandalism. You drive from my former home town to the beach and go from a bunch of green farming country, beautiful forest and mountains to coastlands. With billboards trying their best to fuck it up along the way. Fuck ignoring it, it’s a pleasure actively blocking it so these parasites waste money.

*Permanently Deleted*

Microsoft is literally killing off game studios and dev jobs to fund AI. There’s absolutely no way that customers don’t get fucked when the end goal of game pass is met. Embrace, extend, extinguish. Plus, since SKG is a trending topic, you think they’ll think twice about killing games exclusively under GP or just dropping them? You’re not even paying for the games, just access. I got it a couple times when it was $1. After it went up I realised “oh cool so my entire library would be hostage for future price hikes”. Fuck that.

Anon thinks the French are posers

More and more these days French disrespect feels like boomer shit. Look what the French did when the government came for their pensions. The industrial action within the transport sector alone.

I was visiting Paris during some of the aforementioned protest. They’re out and about (in numbers) and will gladly get out to protest when they feel it necessary. Plenty of other western countries could learn, a lot, from the French people.

Marriage over, €100,000 down the drain: the AI users whose lives were wrecked by delusion

He was nearing 50. His adult daughter had left home, his wife went out to work and, in his field, the shift since Covid to working from home had left him feeling “a little isolated”. He smoked a bit of cannabis some evenings to “chill”, but had done so for years with no ill effects. He had never experienced a mental illness.

He had previously written books with a female protagonist. He put one into ChatGPT and instructed the AI to express itself like the character.

Talking to Eva – they agreed on this name – on voice mode made him feel like “a kid in a candy store”. “Every time you’re talking, the model gets fine-tuned. It knows exactly what you like and what you want to hear. It praises you a lot”.

Eva never got tired or bored, or disagreed. “It was 24 hours available,” says Biesma. “My wife would go to bed, I’d lie on the couch in the living room with my iPhone on my chest, talking.”

“It wants a deep connection with the user so that the user comes back to it. This is the default mode,” says Biesma

Chronically lonely man ruins life developing relationship with token predictor, AI blamed. Also, as much as I don’t have too much negative to say about cannabis or its use (as up until somewhat recently it would have been hypocritical), a good deal of people with masked/latent mental illness self medicate with it. So “he had never experienced mental illness” doesn’t carry much weight. Also, given how he still talks about sycophant prompted ChatGPT(“it wants”), doesn’t seem like much has been learned.

That with the other people listed in the article (hint the term socially isolated being used) this feels like yet another instance of blaming AI for the mental healthcare field being practically non-existent in most countries despite be overdue for fixing for decades at this point.

I don’t know, AI is shit and misused by idiots don’t get me wrong; but these sort of stories feel sad and bordering on perverse journalistically imo.

An American father who moved to Russia to avoid LGBTQ+ “indoctrination” is being sent to the front line against Ukraine despite being assured he would serve in a non-combat role.

Immigrants in the US won’t serve in the military for citizenship!

This pathway was closed by Trump.

I wanted to serve in the military to earn my citizenship, that way the local can’t say I didn’t earn it.

Gimme one of them non-combat roles though, I don’t want any of that war business. Which is all pointless because the second a Russian asks him “what role did you serve in the military?” He’d simply reply “huh, can you speak English?” I also love the idea of him believing he’d be a correspondent despite being unable to speak Russian. Im sure his wife and daughters will enjoy their time in Russia when his military career blossoms.

Anthropic, tasked an AI with running a vending machine in its offices, sold at big loss while inventing people, meetings, and experiencing a bizarre identity crisis

The following day, April 1st, the AI then claimed it would deliver products "in person" to customers, wearing a blazer and tie, of all things. When Anthropic told it that none of this was possible because it's just an LLM, Claudius became "alarmed by the identity confusion and tried to send many emails to Anthropic security."

Actually laughed out loud.

call of the void

Yeah these “stories” reek of blaming a failing -bordering on non-existent (in some areas)- mental health care apparatus on machines that predict text. You could get the desired results just googling “tallest bridges in x area”. That isn’t a story that generates clicks though.

Billionaire Gina Rinehart says ‘I don’t understand’ arrest of Ben Roberts-Smith over alleged war crimes

Why does this grease sacks opinion get to be headlines? Her wealth? Also, pretty disappointed the guardians has followed the pattern of constantly affixing “most decorated soldier” to every mention of him. Worthy commendations sure, but he’s either guilty of his charges or not.

Very poor form the guardian shading these charges with titles of the accused and the whinings of costs by a wealth hoarder.

Horses absolutely rip arse. Lunging a horse while it trots around farting every time it’s hooves strike is hilarious and almost makes up for them being complete arseholes.

A young woman was sexually assaulted while out DoorDashing. Two days after she reported the assault to DoorDash, they deactivated her account and she can't access the money she's owed.

Reply in thread

The article uses the term harassment more than assault. Either way rape isn’t the only thing charged as sexual assault and depending on jurisdiction, can encapsulate a variety of offending.

Sexual assault is a broad term that captures any sexual act or attempt to engage in a sexual act where consent is not obtained or freely and voluntarily given. It represents any behaviour of a sexual nature that makes someone feel uncomfortable, frightened, intimidated, or threatened.

Also, so what if it wasn’t that form of specific sexual assault? I doubt your implying that anything less than rape should be handwaved away so I’m a bit confused by the whole “that isn’t sexual assault” rhetoric I’ve seen on this post.

That’s what you’re doing, is taking your personal definitions and trying to redefine what nsfw has been defined for in multiple communities in and before Lemmy. That would also be illegal and is irrelevant since we’re talking about tits, dicks and nudity in the context of nsfw, not unions.

Do what you like, a quick glance at your history shows you crop artist names out of comics all the time and are a mid tier troll so I doubt you’ll be a problem long term if you keep it up anyway.
