And the “10 years” game gets the premature death it deserves. I was super psyched when this was announced only to then hear it was free to play. Released broken, with a fully functionally MTX store because of course. Campaign as an afterthought, no forge, no game mode selection (until backlash got it implemented). A shit show from start to finish.

I also played it for a few hours on release, it lacked any sort of content and i never got over how they sold armor colors. The most basic form of customization, not skins, but a different color of your armor were bring sold just so you can look slightly different from everybody else in the server. A complete mess.

I don't give a shit about MTX because I ignore all of it, but I quit playing after the nth time I melee'd someone in the back and not get a kill... only to have someone else I'm staring at 20 feet away from me, FACING ME, melee ME in the back and get an instant kill. There's no excuse for Destiny-like Peer to Peer server garbage from a fucking Halo PvP game.

Yup, this right here is exactly what broke me out of the nostalgia haze.

Just the utter nickle-n-diming for the most basic things really rubbed me wrong.

Yeah same here i even came back when it was “getting good again” and had a resurgence but the selling shit that was literally free in other games, nah.

I thought the campaign was fine for what it was, nothing’s ever going to live up to CE -> Reach and the semi-open world formula felt like it worked really well.

As someone who didn't grow up with Halo and only played it when MCC came out on PC, I liked the campaign a lot and personally had way more fun with it than the previous games. It felt like Far Cry Halo which scratched an itch I didn't knew I had. That said I don't think Halo's core audience is anywhere remotely like me.

I wanted to and I agree, it being semi open wouldn’t have been an issue for me but too much goodwill was lost for me to do so unfortunately.

Game was fun for a week until the nostalgia high wore off and you just became more aware of how much shittier playing is now compared to the old days.

I remember customizing my armor and stuff for multiplayer back in the old days. Tried to do it after a week of playing Infinite, thinking I surely had some pieces unlocked to make a custom armor, to find EVERYTHING locked off and isolated, no free color palettes to use, no mix-n-matching sets. So, sure, I had a bunch of pieces unlocked, but they were all one or two for different sets.

This broke the rose color glasses for me. My next few games I started noticing the flaws in the gameplay, and just found myself wanting to play Halo 2 instead.

You haven't seen the MW2 2022 UI have you? It's like these companies are trying their best to make the worst UI.

Right up there with the likes of destiny 2, pubg, 2019 era call of duty

Meanwhile Battleblock Theater and Castle Crashers are still receiving updates 10 years later. Goes to show how far a game can go if you put a little effort into it.

Castle Crashers my beloved! Those games, plus games like No Man's Sky still receiving free updates 9 years later. Made by real humans with no shareholders to please who are passionate about the games they create.

And still they never fixed the weird GPU-specific graphics bug that baked into saves and prevented me from playing. Wonder if I could get this turd polished under Linux.

These games all look the same.

🥱

Grateful I have grown with the masterpieces of char design, amazing gameplay and super character design.
