I'm a big fan of Steam, but gog.com also exists, and people should always try to figure out how to preserve copies of their games and media in a self-hosted way wherever possible.

I know with some games it's not possible because of requiring signons, etc, but even those sometimes get cracked (people run their own WoW servers, etc).

I always download and/or sideload everything I can. My e-books, my music, and my games.

I have been negligent about shows and movies because once I watch them I tend to not watch them again. But, I have friends with extensive video libraries that they built up over the years.

It's harder now because storage is so fucking expensive. But don't accept the default mode that your shit has to live in the cloud. The cloud is just somebody else's storage.

Generally speaking, a modern heating system should not fail nearly this often, even if neglected. Need more information (like the type of heating system, age) but it sounds like it could be a wiring issue with the house, or a flaky dying controller. Replacing the controller is not that expensive, especially if you do it yourself.

It is a generic name for a variety of materials, usually PVC or PU, which are essentially maintenance-free other than occasional cleaning with warm soapy water. Avoid prolonged exposure to UV and abrasion. Should last a very long time.

If it's a more exotic faux leather made from biodegradables / renewables it's going to break down over time because it's meant to.

In short, it's very unlikely you need to regularly condition it like real leather.

At my job we've learned that anyone above director level simply will not read beyond the first sentence of a fucking email. So we have to write them these orc-like one liner emails and pray they understand whatever it is the fuck they need to understand. They have zero nuance or patience. They just want to grunt and point.

IMO South Park just holds up a mirror to society (in probably 90% of their episodes, anyway). People who are comfortable / powerful in society won't like looking at the ugliness in that mirror. People who understand how fucked up everything is will appreciate the value of the mirror.

I think a smaller amount of their material is just them griping about various pet peeves, which is fine. They are human and very creative, so of course some of those types of things will come out in their work, too.

And some of it is just to be funny, pure absurdist jokes and gags. In the sense of "the universe doesn't care" types of things. Those land hard for me, but some people don't find that kind of thing funny. The people who don't find it funny aren't wrong, they just have different tastes in humor.

Lots of, uh, interesting comments here. My 2-cents worth of advice:

1. Be highly suspicious of arguments that are essentially punching down on workers, all Americans, common people being lazy, stupid, etc. It's class warfare (always has been) and the enemy are the oligarchs, not your fellow working class people.

2. Calls to violence this early are pathetic. The non-violent activism is working and it's only just barely even started. Calls to violence are from meatheads with zero patience (and likely zero understanding of how horrible that outcome will be for everyone involved).

Accenture is a horrible choice but the candidate is better off than if they had stayed with these psychos.
