Police who fatally shot a pregnant woman are sued by her family in Colorado
Funny how "fatally shot" takes the sting out of "gunned down" or "killed".

What is something really stupid you purchased that turned out far better than expected?
I got the glasses with 90 degree prisms in them so you can read while laying down. The person on the product page looked like an idiot and thought it would be funny, but I'm on my 3rd pair now

Maine Police Issued Statewide Alert Weeks Ago About Shooting Suspect’s Threats: AP
"Keep an eye out" seems less helpful than "go to this guy's house and take all his guns until he clears a psych evaluation," but what would I know?

Fossil fuels being subsidised at rate of $13m a minute, says IMF
We subsidize all the wrong things. A McDouble is out of reach for most as a casual snack without subsidies, and arguably it should be out of reach so plant based alternatives have a chance at competing. Same with oil. Should gradually roll back the subsidies so people can have time to switch, but they should still be rolled back.

Personal speakers in public places are my #1 pet peeve. The audacity of thinking everyone is into the exact same music as you and would rather listen to it than, oh I don't know, the fucking ocean? Or birds and wind blowing through trees at the park? Do we have to listen to Lil Juice Skrrrt or whatever the fuck on some shitty 2-3" speaker that's distorting like it's life depended on it?

After rise in climate direct action, Europe cracks down
Cracks down on climate polluters? Right? Right?!... Nope, fuck these activists ringing the alarm for the planet we're actively destroying. I did NOT consent to being born into this shitstain of a society, take me back to the void.

Sure, that gets you the time off, but this guy flew to Paris and hung out for that entire time and found his "creative spark". We also need like 50% higher wages so we're not sitting in a Parisian cafe thinking "oh fuck this vacation is going to bankrupt me" or stuck at home unable to afford the flight to begin with.
