Open-source game engine Godot is drowning in 'AI slop' code contributions: 'I don't know how long we can keep it up'
It's everywhere. I was just trying to find some information on starting seeds for the garden this year and I was met with AI article after AI article just making shit up. One even had a "picture" of someone planting some seeds and their hand was merged into the ceramic flower pot.
The AI fire hose is destroying the internet.

I can't stand how many companies and organizations only have a presence on Facebook. When I reach out to them to ask if there is another way to stay connected I usually get a big NOPE.

Is there anything like church without the church?
Reply in thread
I just started going to a Unitarian Universalist church. I grew up Catholic and couldn't stand it. Instead of reading from the Bible or talking about God they are reading words from civil rights activists and talking about how to build community and resist ICE. I really have been enjoying this as a way to actually get out of the house and connect with people with similar values. This Sunday I signed up to help in their garden planning for this season too.

Yep, ads masquerading as comments. It's awful. I'm so glad I moved to Lemmy.

My coworkers are doing this to me. They are even pasting into PR reviews. The threat is real.

Amazon is making it impossible to remove the DRM from Kindle Books
Reply in thread
I bought my first ereader this summer and got a Kindle and hated it. Returned it and got a Kobo. Its fantastic, I can just load my ebooks like it's an external drive. I dont have to email all my ebooks to Amazon just to get them on my own device.

You have to REALLY like chandeliers.
The cover photo looks like an AI generated image since it doesn't understand the appropriate number of light fixtures.

After a particularly annoying update today
Last week I had the lovely experience of it also pushing a bios update that enabled bitlocker and locked me out of my drive. I had to completely wipe the laptop and lose the data.

I've started using {emailaddress}+{sitename}@gmail.com i.e. [email protected]
That way I can at least see who sold my info. I wish I would have started doing this long ago though. Some sites dont let you use the plus symbol even though it's valid though
