Comment: Prohibition is killing 20 Canadians every day

At some time we have to shed the misguided Nixon era belief that drugs are a legal problem, and not a public health problem. The war on drugs has produced nothing but losers on every single front. Addicts don’t get the help they need. An underground market thrives like crazy at the cost of human lives. Tax payers pay out hundreds of billions over the years in tracking, enforcement, and incarceration, all yielding zero net gains. people are going to prison for life on a 3-strikes violation because they got caught with a dime bag of dope. The entire thing is an absolute clusterfuck and waste of money.

That update for the swipes

Hey all. I’m the dude who implemented the new vote animations and really appreciate all the love it’s getting. I’m hearing two main pain points in the posts today:

  1. Some people are finding it difficult to swipe to go back.
  2. Some people would like to disable it entirely.

Both understandable. Swipeable rows can sometimes impede a nav-back gesture unless you’re swiping from the very edge of the screen. I’ve seen a couple techniques to try and help with this which i can investigate.

As for point 2, I’ll leave the prioritization of that up to @gk, but the plus side is from an implementation perspective it will be very simple to do.

There’s a couple other small improvements I’d like to make to the voting/commenting animations as well. One should help with devices which either dont have haptic or have it disabled.

Cheers!

September 11 is the last day to join the Ontario Liberal Party to vote in the Ontario Liberal Leadership Election and decide who will lead them against Ford provincially.

He is my MPP. I’ve been very impressed with him. I’ve emailed him a few times voicing concerns, and each time he (or somebody from his staff) has addresses my emails, point by point, and have been very open to discussions. While i haven’t agreed with his stance on all points, i have very much appreciated the two way dialog, and the time that was taken to craft the responses (they were not short replies).
