EU wants over 70s to prove they can still drive every five years

Reply in thread

What you're ignoring in this hypothetical situation however, is that self driving cars won't be 'self driving' for long long time.

Level 5, fully automated vehicles (where the driver can literally be asleep, and doesn't have to pay attention or intervene) are a long way from being implemented onto public roads. Ill be surprised if we see level 5 automated vehicles in 2040 like many manufacturers seem to believe.

This whole idea behind "oh once the cities get it so will the rural areas" is total bullshit.

This is all too true.

Ahhh the "solution" with park and rides! My city tried this, and three years later they remain largely empty. 🤦‍♂️ Let all drive in the rough direction we need to go, stop a few miles short, just to wait around for 20 minutes to get a bus there.

Anyone else feel like ~99% of their life was kind of wasted?

Comparing yourself to others people's accomplishments is never going to end well. It's completely natural for us to do, but if it's not done to achieve inspiration, then it's almost always a negative thought process.

At the end of the day the people you describe are no better than you, their accomplishments don't make them better people. Their accomplishments only have value if you chose to give them that, and in the same token value can be given to things in your life that you might not necessarily deem worthy enough it be an 'accomplishment'.

Tottenham to reject Bayern Munich’s €80m bid for Kane

Reply in thread

Levy might be correct in this instance especially from a financial point of view, but didn't he promise Harry kane that he could leave like three seasons ago, and then went back on his word?

Why Harry hasn't kicked off/protested more is beyond me, he's a world class striker at a mediocre club that is only going backwards. The dude should have left when pochettino did.

The public transport argument is just not feasible for most people though.

I live in a suburb of a city in the UK. For me to get to work I need to take two busses and a train which equates to around 2.5 hours of travel each way without delays. Alternatively I can drive to work in less than 40 minutes.

Public transport is only the future ifit becomes a realistic and reliable alternative. At the moment, that is simply not the case for the majority of people. And in my city the public transport has arguably gotten worse in the last decade.

Ofcourse this is location dependent. When I lived in London you couldn't have paid me to drive a car as the public transport was far easier to use.

Bring on the downvotes for speaking the truth

Doesn't the left lane in the roundabout state "ahead only" which would indicate you need to be in the left lane to take that exit.

It also looks like the exit only has one lane, which is another indicating factor. If the exit had two lanes, then either lane would be fine
