Anon gets called to the blackboard

Reply in thread

I don't know if it ever happened to OOP, but I distinctly remember hearing something like this back in high school. Everyone was talking about how something basically like this story happened to a kid a few towns over. The post is leaving out a lot of details though, like how the teacher was confined to a wheelchair for the next year, and had to wear this giant fucked up halo headgear device for the next three. There was this huge police investigation too into whether it was a real accident or if the kid had been trying to mask an assault on the teacher for some reason. It got really heated in the local community, there was an alderman trying to accuse the kid of doing some kind of gang hit because he'd happened to be wearing a blue shirt that day and also had a blue bandanna in his backpack (he was a farm kid). But then it turned out that the alderman was the uncle of the captain of the football team in the town over the other side, and he was trying to get the farm kid arrested so he wouldn't be able to play in the state playoffs. It was really fucked up, but that kind of shit just happened in the 90s, like when in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.

My flight read tonight - Piers Anthony Steppe

Piers Anthony has some good moments, but he can be weird in kind of a creepy way sometimes. Oddly-shoehorned-in sexual scenes with fucked up dynamics, underlying misogyny, etc.

But if you can set that aside, he also tells some pretty entertaining stories sometimes. If you like him, check out his Incarnations of Immortality series, and maybe the Apprentice Adept (sometimes called Phaze) series. Those are my favorites from him. The early Xanth books have some charm, but the constant firehose of puns can get very tiring.

What do we think of "MacGyver"?

He's essentially a low-level superhero whose power is creativity and inventiveness, what's not to love? I kinda always wanted to see a one-shot comic crossover where MacGyver temporarily gets a Green Lantern ring to help an incapacitated Hal Jordan or something.

Mexican . . Patients?

Let's explore this.

If we agree to entertain his lie for a moment, and the further implication that the people supposedly supplying her with drugs were responsible for her OD, doesn't that same logic make gun dealers responsible for shootings?

The recent Steam censorship debacle actually sort of opened me up to adult games.

One other side point that came to mind after the main post.

We're so conditioned to think realistic violence in games is fine, but realistic sex in games is "wrong" or "sad". But honestly, I realized I played through 3+ games without doing any violence* and had a blast, and that was actually really refreshing.
