That would be massively concerning and that should be blocked. Ideally votes should remain only on the current instance. Anything shared with other instances should be anonymised. This would need to be re-architected imho.

People come here to get away from Reddit now that trust has gone. Trust and a feeling of safety is vitally important to continue to build this platform.

Rules are created to ensure that they work for people. If there is a set of rules to make it better for people, and it doesn't, they may need a tweak.

What they failed to realise is teachers can have a unique ability to make kids hate a subject.

If you force them to do it, they can do it really badly without it being obvious.

So no known user will ever have a desire to join. Malicious actors will dig out their votes and expose it publicly. Could be massively damaging. You cannot do that with other social media. Obviously those companies have that information, but they do not share it.

That's a temporary workaround, but Lemmy isn't the easiest place to come into, and things like this just make it harder.

Except if you live in Saudi and you voted in support of gay rights. Or HK and voted something negative of China, or if you were a republican and voted something supportive of trans. Voting behaviour can be published to bring detriment to their users.

In the UK, the Labour party suspended members who voted for content from other parties (such as that they had recovered from covid) etc or for voting for content from groups that were proscribed later and they were excluded from the party for this sort of stuff. They had previously hired someone who previously worked for a company linked to the Israeli state and potentially Mossad and they were using this knowledge to crack down on left wingers with in the party. I think the other response was quite accurate. Different language and architecture makes it harder. There are mods made for minetest that can work with MineClone2, so there may be some stuff you'll enjoy, but usually they have to specify it's available for MineClone2.
