That's probably something Conservapodia would publish not ironically

Failed a spot check
I'm pretty stoked this came up in my feed today. I was actually one of the players in that campaign! We played in a small, virtual group during Covid. I sent this thread to Garlic~
The coffee shops weren't a big part of the campaign, but it was definitely a recurring theme. He did a great job world-building and there were backstory elements he added in for us. I did miss the Starbucks reference until it came up and I echo the collective groan we had. There were other puns and fun adventures we had in the campaign.

Trump-loving gays say their MAGA support is ruining their lives
I had a friend who is gay and supported Mitt Romney back in the day. He campaigned against gays. Obama won and legalized same-sex marriage. She is now married to her wife. Reminds me of her

Tucker Carlson: Putin takes charge as TV host gives free rein to Kremlin
You know when you're at a park, see a dog, feel something squish under your foot, and then pick up your fooh to look at it? Yeah, exactly like that but in human form

The end of an era?
This is the first step to having magnetic wheels become a thing. We know canonically Jim Kirk's motorcycle uses these, so it's definitely mainstream by ~2250.
Honorable mention: the Bell Riots happen September this year, and it seems we're on track for those too

My favorite part about the aftermath of this is that Convicted Felon Trump won't be able to vote for himself in the election 🥰

Two Joy-Con drift lawsuits have been dismissed after five years
It sure would be a shame if you bought new, identical Joy-Con controllers, found they didn't have drift, and returned the old drifty ones by accident.
5/28 Ninja Edit: today I learned is a form on Nintendo's website where you can fill out a repair request form. I thought the US had been excluded https://repair.nintendo.com/cc/soConsumer.html?lang=en&sys=SWTCH&type=JOY-CON

Yeahhhh. It's frustrating that it exists. Obvious bias to a comical extreme. Some fun (frustrating?) articles are about evolution, Barracks Houssein Obama (yes they have the middle name emphasized), and atheism

Remembering the legend

That's fair. It's the double-edged sword of internet stardom. To me it's about remembering a simpler time then the world was less of a mess than it is today.

I refuse to believe that they made that abomination of a sequel
To merge with another fandom, there is no Megamind sequel in Ba Sing Se 💡

Why are people against gun rights? (besides shootings)
To preface, I understand it's part of the US Constitution so I know it'll never go away completely.
I'm not a fan of citizens being able to own a tool whose sole purpose is to kill. It's marketed as defense, but the underlying reason is because a gun is a tool with the power to kill. Guns have become so small and portable that an individual can conceal one and can end people's lives at will. I'm not comfortable with that power going unchecked.
I also believe 2A's original intent is not feasible today. A small group of people with muskets cannot overthrow an oppressive state or local government.
I understand the sub this is in, but just wanted to offer my sincere 2¢

I'm old enough to remember Trump gutting the EPA, approving oil drilling permits, and reducing national park land and that those are considered all negatives for the environment :/

Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress

Huh, I didn't know that history. But that makes some more sense. It's always difficult going "backwards" in a game. Like if you play the latest in a series, the first is more "meh". Respect where due - I appreciate that DF paved the way.

What side do you open a banana from?
The outward facing part from how it grows, not where the stem is. Used to think that was the bottom, but it's the top. Just pinch it and it opens easier every time.

DF definitely didn't feel as intuitive. A game like that needs a Weenie Hut Jr tutorial to introduce you since a lot of the mechanisms don't make overt connections (to me at least). I remember some elves came to trade and I offered them a bunch of stuff but they got pissed off and rejected it. Some googling later let me figure out they don't like wooden things :[ but I didn't know that going in and it would have helped to know

What keyboard layout do you use?
Dvorak exclusively. This thread is the most I've heard of other people using it. To date, I've met 2 people who have HEARD of it, but no one else who uses it
