Lemmy.ml has now blocked threads.net / Meta

Yea most people who will use threads probably wouldn’t use other Fediverse things or even know what they are. And people who are already here hate Meta anyway

I don't get people that are here in the fediverse and *want to bring over* the content that is on FB, IG, TikTok, etc.
Reply in thread
Yea, most content isn’t original anyways. If it’s actually good content I don’t care where it’s from

Yea it’s honestly stupid how bad it’s turned out. They could have turned back so many times…

Now that we are all switching to Lemmy, now is the time for all the redditors with embarrassing usernames to make their username right! Don't screw up this time!

Is Lemmy THE reddit alternative for you? Are you thinking about moving somewhere else?
Reply in thread
Same. Honestly I didn’t like it much til today. Today was the first time I actually scrolled through and found a lot of content I liked. I’m just trying to figure out which app to use now which is kind of fun because I miss having 3rd party apps…

What's to prevent someone from hijacking my username?
Reply in thread
I mean depending on how you look at it. Usernames are really your name + instance, and that is unique. To know you are actually talking to the right person you just have to make sure that matches up

3 comments on a post, but Lemmy says there are 5

Maybe it takes time to populate across instances? I could maybe see that being an issue

It's so much easier to comment on Lemmy because it isn't a toxic cesspool waiting to tear you apart

Just give your opinion on defederatation or Threads and there is plenty of arguments and downvotes lol

Meta will kill small instances! Please read.

They could, but why would they need to? They are so much bigger they work will be done for them without having to do anything

You realize that defederating prevents you from seeing their content but not the other way around right? Meta will see your content regardless. So many people are confused about this
