Fast food's too expensive even without delivery expenses these days. Makes me sad.

I went to Chick Fila to get the pimento cheese and chicken sandwich.

I got the combo. Comes with fries and a drink.

$13 and change.

Got 2 double cheeseburgers and a coke at mcds, $12

That used to be less than $6. Like 5 years ago.

There's no ethical consumption under capitalism. Let's not judge others by the food they eat, that doesn't do anything but divide us further.

9

That phrase applies more to things you can't reasonably stop consuming, like plastics.

There are a few exceptions where there's one capitalist producer who is significantly more divisive than the alternatives, and switching costs are extremely low.

11

Might as well buy blood diamonds and clothes made by child slaves. No ethical consumption derp durrrr hurrrr I so smart

Cool strawman, bro.

This thread is about inflation and price gouging. It is not about individual corporations political leanings.

Literally not a strawman.

How dare I mention a side topic!

Get over yourself.

lol that's literally a strawman.

Denying the truth doesn't make it go away.

Cheers bud.

Dude I just spent like 17$ on subway

It's the worst!

Unlimited fresh vegetables, and a good range of them, is pretty unique in the fast food scene. It may be getting pricey but it’s a good slightly healthy meal if you make good use of the vegetable topping. Don’t be like a child and just get a ham sandwich with no vegetables, that’s not what subway is for and yea it’s a terrible idea if you’re just getting meat cheese and a condiment

+$10 for pretty much every meal now. I guess fast food is trying to curb American’s fast food addiction by pricing them out of it.

Nothing is worse than my 3 piece Popeyes combo with fries and a Dr. Pepper going from $7.49 to $15 over 4 years.

Don't worry, our bodies are thankful in the end!

McDonald's it's still pretty good if you use the app. When I forget to bring lunch I get two spicy chicken sammies and a large drink for like $5 and you get points for free shit too. Not an ad but there are genuinely good deals in there if u just want cheap sustenance.

This comment is not really about you, but I really hate the McDonald's app. The McDonald's app has been super frustrating to use. It acts like it is loading a huge database. Each selection results in a 10 to 20 seconds wait for the next. Often selections don't register.

Taco Bell's app is great too use.

i don't know why people need to shame each other for succumbing to the desire to Purchase when our entire society is designed to encourage it

28

While at the same time telling us to stop buying daily coffees and making avocado toast. Just another way to fuck us up.

22

It's not so much trying to shame, it's more like when one moth is telling his friend the other moth not to go into the light.

10

There is a ton of shaming done. Politicians, ceos, newspaper headlines bitching about how no one wants to work, how people need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps, how a major economic depression with 50% joblessness will teach workers to appreciate their jobs and their bosses more.

If db0 let an actual advertiser on our instance I'm sure they'd be nuclear pissed

I'm aware. Judging by OPs history and the fact they're dbzer0, a piracy and anarchy instance, I doubt it's uber would want their name associated bvvqqqqq. I was mostly joking anyway.

9

I'm glad you could glean my thoughts out of that abomination of a comment haha. I don't even know what word I meant to say with that jumbled mess

2

I checked the other day and McDonalds was charging $3.49 per hash brown on one of the delivery apps.

That was as far as I got before boiling water for oatmeal.

41

i can't tell if i'm too old now or what but over the last year i've gotten insanely radicalized against corporatism and can't stand seeing brand names anywhere. i remember sometimes i'd use them in normal posts, but reading others do it really makes it sound like an ad

20

The fast food worker seeing a door dash order pop up on the screen 5 minutes before closing

You can setup availability times in the merchant portal. If this has happened to you, it's because of your shitty management.

I know, those guys usually do whatever they can so the staff has an enjoyable experience.

Yeah in my experience the vitality, finances, and comfort of employees is always paramount to good ol' management! Especially the owner who visits every 3 months!

Paying triple is good enough reason for me. Haven't used it since the lockdown.

For real. I still regularly lose the "make my own vs. takeout" battle, but a nice evening drive is better than paying $80 for a $40 2-person meal.

2

Ah yes, I'd love to watch a car drive to different restaurants and deliver to other houses while my food is getting cold on their passenger seat instead of just getting it myself. Fuck these delivery apps, it's always more trouble than it's worth.

11

Self cooked food can actually taste good. Fast food on the other hand will allways taste bad.

3
feddit.de

Do y'all just order fast food on Uber eats, I don't get it? 50% of the time I order like Vietnamese, Indian or Japanese. Not McDonalds lol. Costs like 15€ (edit: +5€ delivery, I forgot since I had some 0 cost program once) instead of 3-4€ self cooked but it's usually some Sunday afternoon where I am too lazy to get up and do anything myself.

10

Last time I went to order food via a delivery service it was Indian. And one meal, no drink, no sides...just an entree and rice...at the final checkout it started as an $18 item...with all the fees and built in tips and bullshit the final cost was going to be $45.

I cancelled that shit and never once looked back.

I mean at that point you can just make a sandwich or eat cereal. Still way better than 2 hour old overpriced toilet water.

3

It's not junk food dude. I would probably cook the same, like pho, pad Thai idk some Udon dish. But once in a while I order.

3

Lol yeah, that's what I meant. Even if I get real food off uber and not fast food it'd usually kinda cold, soggy and just okay at best. Pizza usually comes okay though.

2

If your home cooking tastes like shit then you need to change how you cook
