The only things you need to actually worry about and will also reduce the noise from other's recommendations:
Only metrics you need! Advice from a dentist. Hope this helps.
i saw some ones that vibrate when they malfunction.
I use the oral-b one that takes AA batteries, no cavities. Mine is like near ten years old and works fine. Then flossing too. Dont fall for big brush.
rechargable ones are gamechanger, no need for battery changes.
I've had the same Eneloops rotating in there the whole time, game is still the same.
I didn't see a dentist for almost 20 years (2004-2023), and just used a traditional manual toothbrush and mouthwash the entire time. Finally got insurance and ran in to see one, and she told me that I should try an electric toothbrush. Her exact recommendation was, "Don't get the $100 ones, and don't get the $5 ones. Something around $20 should be fine."
So I got the store-brand knock-off Oral-B for $15, and used it for six months. When I went in for my next appointment, I told her that I took her advice, and when she took a look in my mouth, she was so impressed with the improvements that she started calling in other dentists and hygenists to look, too.
So, yeah, don't go nuts, but don't cheap out.
You never flossed tho?
im trial and error some expandable flosses right now, specifically the ones with no pfas/pfed.
My flossing routine is on a strict "when I remember to" basis. Ends up being maybe twice per week.
i used to do twice a week, using a back and front flosser, but after a recent dental issue, i do it everyday now. i am trying out different expandable flossing brands and then i use the floss picks for the rest of the week(both the short picks and the long picks.)
Wat mouthwash do uou use
apparently using mouthwash chronically, is not good for your oral microbiome health. using it once in while is ok, and to get rid of things like sores, or gum inflammation. apparently it works great against mouth sores(the blue CPC mouthwash) only thing for the blue moutwash is it will stain your teeth if you use it too much. i use xylitol mouthwash(ACT/BIOTENE/storebrand generic(walgreens have 2 less chemicals in the ingredients) and closys, super mild.
yea i got the 39$ oral b, and a pretty good off brand sonic one for less than 15$ it had all the features of pricey sonic care but none of its high cost.
I was recommended sonicare almost 20 years ago by a family dentist. I still have that toothbrush, although spare heads are now almost entirely dried up so I will have to buy a replacement soon.
I've always received glowing reviews from dental hygienists EXCEPT three times when I switched to either a manual brush or a competing product when I developed a small cavity within about a year. The last one was probably 5 years ago and I continue to get good reviews, even though I usually only brush once a day.
once a day seems pretty low, it should be twice a day at least, morning and night time.-
This is how they run everything, it's kind of weird. Their products all have parts that need replacing, but they only manufacturer those replacements for a couple of years before they obsolete them with the "latest and greatest" version. My original BodyGroom still runs, but the only replacement heads that exist are made by no-name Chinese brands.
i bought an oral-b in 2023, its a decent toothbrush, but it only has 10minutes of brushing at the most before require charging. most new off brand ones last alot longer, and have even cheaper replacement heads, then the replacement heads(off brand) for oral-b. i use a sonic toothbrush most likely its a off brand, it was 14$ online(electronic display, intensity of oscillations settings, timer), but its been discontinued, likely due to last years tariffs. i see at least 2 other brands with a similar features. all uses rechargable cable, stations. i would only use one with usbc, or plug in. no batteries, too cumbersone to deal with.
I’ve been happy with the Sonicare I got at Costco, and the Costco price on both the device and replacement brush heads tends to be much better than elsewhere
Same. Wkfe eventually joined in.
Although I just get bulk cheap heads off of Amazon.
Big ups to sonicare. Great products and I've tried the gamut of the sonic type tooth brushes. I got a basic sonicare at home and a 1xAAA powered travel one made by G.U.M.
The "switch" on the Phillips models (at least the cheaper, sub-$100 ones that I've used) wears out way too quickly, IMO. Like, after a year.
i thought about the sonicare once, but noticed alot of reviews, says its ends up being cheap and falling apart eventually i went for a sturdier off brand one.
The high end Sonicares last many years and do not have switch problems, in my experience.
My first set of Sonicares lasted about 15 years before the batteries died. I’m maybe 2-4 years into my second.
i dont think the high cost of sonicare is worth it, when theres like cheaper brands available. save your money.
I have a Philips Sonicare and like it well enough, but my dental hygienist (who I started going to after that purchase) says Oral-B is better.
IIRC Oral-B sometimes goes on sale at Costco, too.
Brand recommendations from dentists/hygienists (and your vet) are, fundamentally, sponsored.
at the time oral b and sonicare were the reliable ones and on the market. but there are off-brands ones that are equally as good and cheaper, oral b and sonicare makes thier money off the official replacements heads instead of the actual brush. most people just buy the cheaper replacement knockoffs from amazon.
i like the rotating ones, i notice they are better at curvatures on the flatter surfaces especially enar the gum line. i use the sonic ones after lunches to get in the nooks in crannies of the biting surfaces.
I found out to my detriment that that Oral-B is SO good that it actually brushes away your gums at the gumline. Imagine me, thinking that getting blood while using it meant I needed to clean my gums better. I use Sonicare now.
i never used it like that. i go from the bottom of the top of the tooth to the gumline, just barely. so it doesnt erode the gumlines. i also do it angle where it doesnt touch my gums.
any blood indicates you have gingivitis.
That's what i thought too. The dentist informed me otherwise.
I use soft bristle and I still lunk it up and push too hard apparently according to my dentist sometimes yep.
Another vote for sonicare
Yeah, i got sonicare. Its the best one I’ve tried. I switched from Oral B
I tend to buy aquasonic brushes. They're half or less than Phillips and seem to last longer, and you can put Phillips head on them
i thought about buying one, but they are still kinda pricey and the quality kinda meh, i went with an offbrand, which has not failed me since i bought a few years ago, apparently it got discontinued because it was too good, and people were not buying its cheaply made versions. i also use a rotating oral-b as well.
the free replacement heads were a selling pts, and you can buy it cheaper and dont need to invest in expensive sonicare ones.
Triple Bristle
How did you stumble (up)on that distinction?
from the looks of it, it seems gimmicky too much, high chance of the heads breaking.
I was specifically looking for a multi-bristle brush that could take rechargeables (AA/AAA) and found this one fit the bill the best.
But how did you arrive at the multi-bristle
Just figured single brush brushing felt inefficient, so i wondered if there was anything that did all sides of a tooth at the same time.
its been shown manaul is pretty much inferior to electric rotating circular brushes and sonic ones. and my teeth have never been cleaner.
Has your dentist confirmed your enamel's good?
Yea, havent had a cavity in decades.
