What are some of your favorite Stephen King film/series adaptations?
I’m on a quest this month lol
PS - The Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile are not allowed! 😂

The Mist (2007)
I never read the story it's based on, but holy shit I love that movie. It has such a great mix of monster movie vibes, and the bleak-as-fuck ending honestly really sends it home.
ETA: there's apparently a black and white version that I've never seen but really want to.
King has said he liked the film’s ending better than his own
The film had an ending so that checks out!
(Both endings are good for different reasons)
Oof yeah this is such a good one. I gotta rewatch for sure.
I love that movie very much too.
The original 1970s Carrie adaptation with Sissy Spacek. Captures an era perfectly, and all the female leading actresses are so good.
The 1970s mini series of Salems Lot. Great cast. Super creepy thanks to Tobe Hooper’s direction.
Ohhh I actually haven’t seen Salem’s Lot! I’ll have to add that to my list. I also thought it was just a flick - didn’t realize there was a series.
Seconding Carrie and The Mist, I also like Rose Red and Langoliers.
Has no one mentioned The Shining yet? I know that Stephen King dislikes the film and probably everyone has seen it already. But I have to mention it because it is still one of my favorite horror films of all time. Bonus points for the 4K Bluray because it looks absolutely amazing.
The bathtub scene still gives me the creeps and when they called back to it in Dr Sleep it scared the shit out of me
og pet sematary from the 80s was stupid good fun
i already played with mommy, now i want to play with youuuuuuu
Plus you got The Ramones on the soundtrack
The Langoliers of course... Don't judge me.
It was so bad it was good
"The Dead Zone" was way better than I thought it'd be. Worth a watch!
M-O-O-N, that spells The Stand (1994). Such a great miniseries.
Misery, Stand By Me, The Running Man (1987), and The Dead Zone for movies and 11/22/63 and Under The Dome for TV shows.
I'm more in it for the Mike Flanagan of it all, but the brand new Carrie TV show adaptation that came out this month is good so far. I have two episodes to go.
Interesting! Haven’t heard about this but I’m gonna have to put it on my radar.
Christine was awesome.
Life of chuck
Dr. Sleep
I’m surprised how good Dr Sleep was
I felt they did a fantastic job with the cast/characters without significantly editing the story
and if you enjoy cheesy action flicks: running man, with arnold Schwarzenegger :D
The Stand miniseries 1994 and dreamcatcher 2003 they are not the best but they are my favorites
The Shining ofc. Yes, it's not super faithful to the source material, and King notoriously hated it, but it is such an all-time classic!
I need to dig out my Nightmares & Dreamscapes dvds. I think I liked those. Same with Storm of the Century.
If it’s gonna be Stephen King then it’s gotta be by Frank Darabont, imho.
