Check you're not just seeing the thumbnail, it's a good size for me. I think sone clients default to the small view unless you click them or similar.

I'm on desktop and it's not very good. I thought my net was crapping out until I saw the comments

That's really bizzare, on lemmy instances, even the poster's home instance, it's tiny and blurry, but on piefed instances (I've tried piefed.social and piefed.world) it shows up fine. Just obe of the mysteries of the fediverse I guess.

Maybe some compression algorithm shit the bed I guess lol.

I think it's legit just displaying the thumbnail image as the main image for some reason, so yeah probably a compression algorithm shit the bed. Never seen this on Lemmy before though, kinda curious what broke to cause this.

It looks fine on this instance. Maybe it's a .world media storage thing going on.

Nope, I'm on lemmy.world and getting the full quality image.

Using the Jerboa app right now, so the client app might have half of something to do with it..

I am using Jeboa to Lemmy world, got the blurry...

This is the 2nd time today I've seen lemmy users mention this issue while i see the full yes on piefed. Must be a bug in lemmy i guess.

Maybe every time this gets reposted they're just jpeging it again!

Rename HBO Max to "Max"

My favorite part was when Zaslav announced Max would be rebranded as HBO Max two years later, claiming, "HBO's prestigious reputation was too valuable" as if that weren't something everyone but him knew all along.

Okay, I'll warn people about blurry CEOs. They should be easy to spot

They sold out in 2000. Having a successful company wasn't enough money, apparently...

I very cautiously submit Gabe Newell for consideration. I'm not aware of him doing anything overtly and blatantly evil yet.

lemmy.world

"Aware" being the operative word, here.

Not that buying a custom, $100 million yacht is, in itself, a terrible thing, I mean, apart from the environmental issues, but I feel like it's just a matter of time before a few skeletons break out of his closet.

Ye, no such thing as an ethical billionaire. I just mean that as far as billionaire CEO's go you can definitely find worse. He's done a much better job of keeping his evil tendencies (should they exist) under wraps.

1

I feel like even with the yatches, or perhaps even because of the yatches, of all the money people around, Gabe is among the ones who more or less get it right in that he uses the money for Himself stuff, instead of say financing the IDF. Compare, say, JKR or the Mullvad CEO.

2

Buying a yacht is seems to be one of those things only senselessly rich people buy. Like I can't imagine any world in which I would ever want a yacht; what's the point other than to show off?

What is everyone on about? Blurry?

The image is crystal clear on my end. I'm a member of lemmy.world and using the Jerboa app.

I'm gonna save this post to investigate later, just out of curiosity, because seriously the posted screenshot image appears crystal clear on my end, and I don't think OP edited their post.

What are you folks seeing to say its blurry/needs more JPEG?

Why are so many people complaining about quality of the image? I don't think the quality can get any higher

This is a high quality version. The main post opens to a much lower quality version for me and everyone else complaining, I guess.

Not sure how well this will come through but here's a voyager screenshot. Your version is visible below and is much sharper

That's weird. Maybe because I use "always load high quality" somewhere in settings?

Actually he wanted to sell it to Netflix (which is marginally better) but the shareholders choose Paramount because it offers way more money for the valuation of WB IIRC

He is still a fucking asshole

warn a brother

Warn of what???
We keep fucking saying that these epstein class CEOs are not just worthless but genuinely detrimental and should be put down like sick dogs. But you guys keep hiring them for some reason.

8

you guys

They hire each other! We get no say. In the words of George Carlin: It's a big club, and you ain't in it

I can highly recommend "Fools Rush In: Steve Case, Jerry Levin, and the Unmaking of AOL Time Warner" by Nina Munk as a fantastic examination of how things got this bad regarding media consolidation

The boards of directors of these massive entertainment companies care about money, and nothing else. It gives me only the slightest schadenfreude knowing that it probably makes them all crazy having to deal with a corporate sector that relies entirely on ARTISTS, who are notoriously as cooperative as cats. They have no choice, and they hate that.

3

An entertainment industry without creatives? Sure, give that a try, I can't imagine any downside there.

1

David Zaslav sees no value in artists and animators and hates animated media. Garbage human.

lemmy.today

And to the PE firms and shareholders, all of that is a W.
