[self-promotion] My debut album: Written in Rust
Hello world! Finally finished an album a few days ago! It’s a slow-burn electro-post-industrial darkwave kinda thing with very sparse vocals for exploratory listening; dark, but more viscous/haunted than vicious/aggressive…?
That just sounded more advertisey than I’m comfortable with.

As a programmer I was excited for a second to find an album created in rust hehe.
As for the music, I really dig the vibes. Not something I could listen to often but definitely something I respect quite a lot, good job!
Yes, I was "inspired" by the constant stream of code projects announced as "a such-and-such, written in Rust." It fit the sound of the album (I think) so hey why not :D
ha, true. Definitely fits. The equivalently ubiquitous "rewritten in rust" would then be "remixed in rust" right? :P
I think plain "rewritten in Rust" would work just as well…
Interesting, sounds like a mix of dark ambient and dub.
I appreciate the creeping progression. Thank you for sharing.
Somewhere between Skinny Puppy and Deadsy if they went more etherial. Not bad 🙂
Thanks. :) I’d never heard of Deadsy before but I’m a big Skinny Puppy fan. Just didn’t think it was particularly noticeable.
Short lived and generally underrated. I can still hear the opening cords to Gramercy Park in my head anytime I think about them. It's just kind of burned in. But they are definitely much more on the synth and sting side with some nice growl.
Given this community. I don't think anyone would turn down being compared to skinny puppy. 🙃 Or Ohgr in general. But it reminded me a lot of what many of the younger artists especially the ones I've seen a lot on YouTube are doing these days. Releasing versions of their tracks that are kind of slowed down. (Maureux, Moonvampire) It just really struck me as something more experimental like skinny puppy but just kind of slowed down.
I’m just old and slow like that! There’s one sped-up track…
Oh there's plenty of us here like that. These days I'm definitely more Switchblade Symphony than Squarepusher. But still all over the place.🫠
