this comment sounds damn AI generated

It isn’t just the dash, it’s the contrast. To max out the slop score of the sentence, you should always cram in a three item list, no matter how little sense, utility or value it holds.

lemmy.ca

Creating a list makes a lot of sense – the reasons for this include:

  1. Short sentences are easier to read
  2. It allows ideas to be ordered
  3. The stupid humans don't read past the second item so we can communicate our plot to destroy them all here

Let me know if you need any help in constructing your own three point list!

5

I'd like a three point list about the reasons mistaking the use of tricolon, juxtaposition and dashes for slop indicators is not just stupid, but unfair to people – like myself – who've grown up learning the same writing style that is now being demonized.

Its your fault for having -- on your comment -- of course

Being silly gets you downvotes around these parts. I collect them as badges of demonstrated silliness.

Only AI refers to them as em dashes, AI.

They have been known as em dashes for longer than silicon computing has existed. I personally learned Alt+0151 in the 90s.

And what's really funny is that I am planning on having a local LLM reword my comments to obfuscate my writing style to protect me against AI doxing, I just haven't done it yet.

5

You're speaking in code openly now? The AI get more brazen every day!

Only AI refers to it as Al, but you're referencing both em dashes AND Al which means because em starts with the letter M and so does machine, that must mean you're a machine learning model, learning coming from the l in the second instance in the word Al that I used, but you probably think I used the letter "l". Ha! Got you again, that was actually an L, you absolute bumbling moron. I can't believe you didn't pick up on that difference because of the way you referred to Ai (this time not Al), which of course makes you a machine, but because you're a machine and looking through your comment history, it seems like you accumulate knowledge after you are exposed to it, must mean that you're learning. But that's in the case where you're a machine learning model. In this case, you're actually a remarkably large switch case table, which in that case(reference to switch case tables) you refer to everything using a memory lookup, but again - like usual - I have you beat ------ I'm actually a rock that happened to get bumped by a hiker on a lovely sunrise hike which had me roll down the mountain until I rolled over a phone in the precise combination that allowed me to create and log into this Lemmy account for three years consistently and type out this very post to you today, exposing myself as a consciousness emulating rock when you are actually the Al and you can't prove me false boohoo.

Can we stop these useless comments please? There's absolutely no reason to believe that is generated. At best, comments like yours give them relevance. If it's actually slop, and you have reasonable arguments and research to back it up, then call it out! If you are just going around saying everything is AI slop (which makes your comment regular slop) then it makes the legitimate call outs look less reasonable, so please stop this.

I don't care. You may believe that, I don't share your opinion. I will continue posting my opinions here and other places. I wasn't even saying that the comment was AI, just that it gave me those vibes

1

Does it really give you generated vibes though? Other than the em-dash (edit: not even an em-dash, which is "—", but a double hyphen to approximate an em-dash, and generated content usually uses the actual character), it's very contrary to generated content. Usually generated content is needlessly long and verbose, which that one isn't.

This suggests the existence of the poop event horizon. Science totally rocks man.

33

Rocks big part of science. But science not totally rocks. Science more than rocks.

8

Since you can empty your stomach back up, I guess the event horizon for food is after the stomach. After that the only way out is down.

5

Umm no? Have you never vomited? I'm not sure I'd call that "food". I guess, maybe, it's still food after you've finished chewing it; you could spit it out into your hand instead of swallowing, and someone else could choke it down. But it stops being food long before it hits the intestines. At some point when it starts mixing with stomach acid, probably.

So you're saying the point is somewhere in the esophagus?

5

The point when it goes from food to vomit, yeah. I’m not sure when it goes from puke to poop, though. Maybe that happens in the intestines?

3
sopuli.xyz

It becomes shit in the large intestine. Before that, it is kind of food leftovers mixed with intestinal liquid. Does not even smell like shit at that point, just more or less like food, still.

2
sopuli.xyz

Seems like it, though I have not looked into that. I just have a lot of personal experience, with the small intestine pre-shit, because I have an ileostomy.

2

I'm from Texas and used to hate Oklahoma, because I was taught that was correct. I've since learned that's essentially the poop calling the turd a piece of shit, but that's beside the point. When I lived outside of Dallas, I once learned that I was less than an hour from Oklahoma. At that age, I'd never driven outside of Texas, and decided to check something off the "things I've done" list.

When I neared the border, I hesitated and asked myself if I really wanted my first out-of-state driving experience to be in Oklahoma. So, I turned around and drove back.

The point is, there's still a delineation that determines when a person is someone who's only driven in Texas vs someone who's also driven in Oklahoma. The same kind of line is what's being proposed by SatansMaggotyCumFart's Law. Even if I covered myself in stomach acid, I could still identify as someone who has only ever driven in Texas, even if I looked and smelled like vomit.

As further evidence supporting my incredibly intelligible argument, the beloved founder of Globo Gym once noted:

in some cultures, they only eat vomit.

In conclusion, I took more time writing this comment than I should have, and I'm sorry if you read it.

Thank you for attending my Ted Talk.

Kissing is just sucking on the better end of two digestive tracts.

If you divide a woman in half horizontally one side has poop and the other side has boob and both are plaindromes. Also you will go to jail.

It's like a Food of Theseus.

Bit by bit the food is replaced with a bit of poop, at which point does it cease being food?

4

Unlike children, and some adults, I don't eat sand, be it in a heap or not, so I'm not entirely convinced that's the right model either.

Interesting "paradox" though, as the initial premise of one million grains of sand being a heap falls over as it doesn't specify the structure of the sand: which is what defines a heap of anything.

1
sh.itjust.works

You think that's a worse fit than: If I replace parts of a thing with SOMETHING ELSE is it still the same thing? The ship of theseus is more well known, but you would need to eat sand to think it's a good fit IMO.

As an aside, the structure of the heap has nothing to do with it. The point is simply "when does a heap stop being a heap if I remove one grain at a time?" That is the same is the same as when does food stop being food if you make it poop one bit at a time. If you don't like "heap" you can call it a pile WLOG.

1

If I spread a million grain heap of sand out evenly over a plane such that the grains are still touching it's no longer a heap. Therefore the heap is a structure not a numeric quantity.

You think that’s a worse fit than...

I said no such thing.

1

I don't think you can call what's in your intestines food, once it leaves the stomach. The stomachs job is kind of to make it not food anymore

4

If you eat Taco Bell, it goes in and comes out exactly the same. I honestly don't know how they manage to keep collecting, processing, and serving the same diarrhea since 1962, but it's no wonder they'll win the Franchise Wars.

Reminds me of philosophical question of a boy eating an apple: at what point does it cease to be the apple and become the boy? I suppose this is a similar question: at what point does it cease to be an apple and become a turd?
