I really don't mind the appearance of either set, but I'm not a fan of the way that the new ones break in the dish washer. Ceramic shards are sharp and the mechanical repairs are expensive. Not to mention replacing the full set of these fragile bowls every 6 months.
Sincerely, someone who purchased bowls 30 years ago and discovered that modern craftsmanship is subpar.
In this case it's always better to just go along with it. Your partner will be happier, you will be happy that they are happy and overall they are likely right that changing the wall colour is a good idea.
If you push back you are likely going to both end up unhappy, not to say you should always just roll over and do what your partner says, but when they ask if you are going to help, that's your opening to come up with another possible suggestion.

I found that Corell dishware is still as good today as ot was 40 years ago. Excellent stuff, light and tough. But when it does break, it breaks hard.
Although it has been a while since I bought some.
Sometimes the thing she wants requires effort though.

Nobody will give you back that lifetime. Was it worth it?
