Since it is not clear in the post, I wanted to point out that it is a third party “curator event” using steam.

Its sort of akin to there being an AI slop festival at your local community event center; that doesn’t mean the city is promoting it, someone has just signed up (maybe paying?) to use that space.

The "curator" in question has a meager 22 followers. This post has likely driven more traffic to their "sale" than Valve has.

Is there a way to tell steam not to show me games that were made using AI?

31
lemmy.world

Known libertarian GabeN doesn't want that.

That would eat into his profits, and how else would he buy yachts and Aston Martins for his son.

What are you talking about. Steam has requirements to show whether you've used AI or not.

AFAIK you can't sort / block based on it yet but its better than being completely in the dark.

33
lemmy.world

So it's exactly like I said.

You can't sort out AI games because GabeN wants his money.

Glad we established that.

Click on your profile name in the top right, store preferences, "Tags To Exclude", Artificial Intelligence. They're user generated tags, but they'll do the job.

23

I believe that tag is mainly for games about artificial intelligence, not games created with generative AI.

1
lemmy.world

So it's not Steam

You are trying so hard to not direct your hatred to Lord GabeN for platforming and profiting from these AI games it's unreal.

-13
lemmy.ml

literally gives a way you can filter Steam for AI generated content

"Ah, but they haven't used my implementation"

You're trying so hard to direct your hatred at Gaben for not letting you do something you can actually do it's unreal

5

My guy.

You've admitted that Steam doesn't let you filter out AI games without the community policing itself.

Don't be brainwashed sheep unc. You can admit when Lord GabeN is at fault for something.

-5

Why is your profile name familiar I feel like I've argued with you about a stupid take before.

I think you are confused with Tim Sweeney. Valve has been pushing for transparency around AI use in game production. Epic has been the store really pushing to hide it (so much that Tim got mad at Valve for not hiding it).

16

My guy.

Both are profiting from it.

Don't be so brainwashed that you need to bring Epic into this.

-21

I don’t know dude, I just don’t want to see the slop

4

I clicked on a few and some don't have an AI disclosure. Is this something we should report?

If someone can sanity check me, can you look at sketch kingdom as an example? I'm not able to find it on the game page, but it's not out yet so I'm not sure how that really works.

I checked Sketch Kingdom and it does not have a disclosure so I checked a few more.

I noticed that in the box on the right that shows multiplayer/etc, every game without the disclosure had a line saying "Steam is learning about this game." No game with a disclosure had that

For example, School of Magic, which does have an AI disclosure, says "Profile features limited" instead

May just be a coincidence, I didn't check more than like 10

12
reddthat.com

Thank you for that. I was indeed wondering if it was just that steam didn't have the information yet or since the game wasn't fully out yet etc. I'm on mobile so I was worried that might've affected the layout as well. Appreciate someone else taking the time to verify. I think that if the game is wishlist-able that should be known, but I am not familiar with steam policy on that sort of thing.

7

That's my guess but the sample size is pretty small. I don't know anything about listing games so take it with a grain of salt!

It might be worth reporting if for no other reason than showing Valve that people are looking for disclosures

5
fedia.io

Slopfest 2026. Pretty gross all around, including by Valve.

15

I stand corrected. I wasn't aware that curator organized events like that were even a thing.

1

Gross. I have a killer idea for a strategy game (not even a genre I enjoy tbh), but unless I learn to make it myself, or find someone who finds it compelling (rofl I’m not even looking), its not getting made. I never want to be in a list like this.

Never slop. But ahh I do wish the timeline had worked out differently..

11

I do like quarantining!

It must be at least a little tough for devs to stay fully AI-free. I had to look up a python syntax and used Google (I know), and went off the summary. Thus the genAI taint spreads

6

That is 100% by design, and why I no longer use Google search.

13
lemmy.world

Does anyone know how to find this page on Steam? Obviously the link opens in Steam but I can't figure out how to navigate there from the home screen. I was expecting it to be on the homepage like the summer sale

3

It is not actually a Steam promotion, like this did not come from Valve. It is some weird shit the AI bros are doing that uses steam as a platform.

17

Ohhh huh. I've never seen a Steam page like this before

From the top menu: Browse -> Discounts & Events; check the Special Events section on the Discounts & Events page. I had to click the > a couple of times to see this event.

Could you please collect all the nsfw ones and put them in their own list so I know which ones to avoid?

3

Different person, but I'm at work procrastinating on my job. I want to look at some of these games without guessing which ones are nsfw

6

If the link they provided is accurate there are only 6 :

No Fap Island

Pick Me Pick Me

Stuck with my Ex's Family and ZOMBIES!?

Revival of the Noble Blade

Market Moe

Frame Fatale: A Minesweeper Gallery

Went through the list and hit Ignore on every single one. Fuck Steam and Gabe for promoting this dogshit. So neither Steam nor Gabe are promoting this. It's a third-party event from what I've been told. It'a unfortunate that it's still on Steam, though.

0

They only sort of are. It is a third party "event" using steam. Its sort of akin to there being an AI slop festival at your local community event center; that doesn't mean the city is promoting it, someone is just paying to use that space.

Neither Valve or Gabe are likely aware of this at all. It's not a Steam event.

Did you click on every link in OP's post and click ignore? Or is there an easier way?

5
Lemmayngreply
lemmy.world

Clicked every link in the post then clicked Ignore in the Steam app. I think this might be more efficient to do in a web browser considering you can open the links in multiple tabs.

just wanna make sure i have this right.

you're confused about the concept of simply not buying anything during a steam sale? or are you asking how to delete your steam account?
