It's been a whole thing. To recap:

The post was removed for harassment then mrdown was removed as a mod.

Shortly after that the same post was made on the duplicate piefed community, ![email protected] (moderated by mrdown) by account small44. It was quickly removed for harassment and the small44 account was banned.

However, the sidebar on the piefed community still features a list of disliked users. I wonder how long that will last.

I seemed like a violation of something, part of why I downvoted it.

No mod ever bans people for downvoting other people's posts. They only ban you for hurting their own personal feefees.

Yes, I accidentally vote when scrolling sometimes, especially when fur baby bumps my hand or device. I've probably voted in ways that would horrify me.

Same here, I saw this thread, checked out the post mentioned, downvoted the unsubstantiated claims, and am now waiting for my ban.

If the mod in question happens to read this, you should learn from this, don't just post random accusations of this nature, post evidence of your accusation, including sourcing the information you reference.

By not doing this, you reduce the impact of not just your own use of the accusation, but also everyone else's.

That first link shows an extended conversation between two users who disagreed respectfully. It doesn't seem to say what you think it says.

The only way the second link shows anything is if you genuinely don't understand the idea of context. There's a bit of a difference between responding to a single instance of something, and an established pattern of behavior.

I never disagreed with banning for downvote bots and troll accounts. I've done it myself when I was trying to get my communities started, on the very rare occasion I found an account with tens of thousands of downvotes. I disagree with banning for one downvote.

I post leftist media. Also rocks and art. If you have a problem with anything I post, come say so. I don't ban people for arguing with me.

I banned a couple users in the early days of my communities for downvoting posts back to back, every day. I figured if they didn't like anything I posted anyway but kept looking at it, I'd help them out with a red flag.

So I donno, maybe you deserved it, or maybe they pay too much attention to votes and over-reacted. Probably better to block them if you don't like their stuff.
