They don't though, their last common ancestor is a precursor to the modern wolf, but they did come from a different species (though the separation of the species is incredibly recent, biologically, only as short as 30,000 years ago)

Honestly I kinda like this fun fact myself though

And to be fair, the thing that's the common ancestor we do call it a Wolf, the name is "Pleistocene Wolf", it's just genetically not a wolf

Like the tree goes

  • thing that's kinda like a wolf
    • thing that's kinda like a dog
      • thing that's kinda like a dog
        • thing that's kinda like a dog
          • modern dog
    • other thing that's kinda like a wolf
      • etc
        • etc
          • modern wolf

And they can still interbreed, so not that far away genetically, just with (usually, occasionally not) infertile offspring

No thank you, please do not grab my tongue with your bare hand, that is disgusting unless I just saw you wash your hands like a surgeon doing pre-op prep.

The collar and ears I already have though, so please continue... Just without the tongue-touching. Although my tongue does allow for... other things to be on it. :3
