Toast is great. I wish I knew who first had the thought to cook bread twice. Did they want more crust? Were they trying to make bread last longer? What was their favorite kind of bread? I honestly feel like it was an accident as most innovations are.
Some tavern or inn had some overcooked bread and sold it anyway and people just happened to like it.
