The 13-year-old boy trapped inside my head went ahead and bought a radio-controlled micro crawler and I totally just stood by and let it happen.

Already got made fun of by some teenagers with more fragile egos and less expendable income than me.

Could've just asked and I would've let them try!

Axial SCX24 Base Camp for those interested.

Edit: I've got around 3 kilometers on the odometer already. Good for something with the max speed of around 0.5km/h

I think it's awesome. Do what you can to keep your sense of joy and wonder alive.

I try! I find that concerns about other people's imagined opinions are usually a really bad reason not to do something when it does no harm to anyone else. Now I take it as a signal to basically force myself into uncomfortable situations.

There's a local saying that goes like "the difference between a child and an adult is the price of the toys". 🙂

First mods were already in the mail before the truck had even arrived.

As it should be. Excitement leads to hobby part accrual, don't forget repair parts, tools and storage.

Edit: having broken a few parts myself, I wocus on parts for the diffs and drivetrain followed by steering components. Have fun crawling!

Teenagers are very delicate and can't yet understand that adults (often) are not.

teenagers with more fragile egos

I both resent and pity gen z for how social media has fucked them up.

I recently fell down the rabbit hole of watching fpv drones on YouTube and while I haven't got anything yet I am so tempted too.

Is there a 13 year old trapped in your head or do you just have an id that needs more breathing room?
