How about we investigate the farmers who are forcing their workers to shit in a hole at the side of the field then selling crops contaminated with said shit?
Every thread about taco bell has people making jokes about it causing diarrhea and others pointing out that it doesn't unless your diet is already awful. What these threads never seem to have is anyone saying that taco bell gives them diarrhea.
So does anyone actually know anyone that gets sick from normal taco bell? Or is everyone just parroting a factoid
Of the four times I've gotten food poisoning in my life, once was from a taco bell. In college. At 2am, January 1st. Honestly you'd have gotten food poisoning anywhere open two hours after New Years.
I always wondered if it is more about the employees/hygiene at Taco Bell and less about the actual food.
I don't get the taco bell jokes either. Never had an issue from eating there.
Burger king on the other hand...
I swear the people who have "stomach issues" from Taco Bell just aren't used to eating any fiber.
Burger King's success baffles me. That place is so gross
Taco bell doesn't usually cause diarrhea for me. I don't understand these jokes.
I've not had digestive issues from taco bell, but that ancedote is only worth what you paid for it.
Yet people rush to bring it up every time
Runaway memetic phenomenon
It does for me, but I have IBS. Anyone I've met who had Taco Bell issues similarly had digestive issues. We tend to run in packs and decimate public toilets.
Sounds like the IBS is what's giving you diarrhea lol
Brings back memories of a bathroom stall that had graffiti that said "flush twice, it's a long way up to Taco Bell." There was indeed a Taco Bell upstairs.
DiaRFKrhea.
Of course I would see this article posted after I just ate Taco Bell. FAFO, I suppose :D
Same. I hadn't had Taco Bell in years and had a craving last week. Immediately after eating my meal I had to drop the kids off at the pool while searching why Taco Bell does that specifically to us so immediately. I think I'm in the clear though, just the normal Taco Bell reaction.
Good luck!
Thanks! I think I'm going to need it :D
We're in this together, curse you soft tacos!!!!!
Why? Taco Bell has already been giving people explosive diarrhea for decades.
It's just pre-prepped produce.
Produce or dead animal corpses?
Produce. Any other dumb fucking questions that could have been answered by reading the article that we can help you with?
I thought for Taco Bell, diarrhea was a feature not a bug.
Only if you don't get enough fiber. People have issues only because their menu items are mostly beans, aka high fiber
Between that and the way they use dairy cow beef that would otherwise go to waste I just keep hearing good things about this place
until the parasites at least
What's wrong with dairy cow meat?
Dairy cows are distinct breeds from beef cows, and generally their meat is very poor in quality and quantity compared to beef cows. Only a small portion of all beef production comes from them, and an unusually large portion of it becomes ground or otherwise processed beef due to the poor quality. However, it's essentially a waste product of the dairy industry, so assuming we're not shutting the dairy industry down, it's generally a good thing that someone is able to put a portion of it to good use. Not that I'm endorsing Taco Bell or anything, but at least it's a less shitty method of operation than some others in the industry.
I come from a dairy farming family. We currently still have four small operations. While I would agree that beef cattle are ideal for steaks and other luxury cuts, most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between dairy versus beef breeds in your average ground beef or sausage preparation.
We eat most of the cattle from our farms ourselves, so I have had plenty of experience consuming dairy cattle meat. The flavor of the beef from our cows is better than what I can typically find at my local grocery store, because our animals hang out in the pasture all day eating grass. The muscular structure is far smaller and there's less marbling, but the beefy flavor itself is great.
The president of YUM foods is (was?) a Trump supporter. I’ve boycotted Taco Bell since like 2017 or 18 when I learned of this. Also fuck Pizza Hut and KFC too
Almost every major corporate American CEO has shown super for Trump and the fascists more broadly at some point, trying to boycott every company run by them is both too expensive and unreasonably difficult for me and most people, so that doesn't mean much to me. Boycotting means very little in this case compared to using the government to force changes across all industry everywhere. My main issue with Taco Bell and other YUM brands is their extraordinary-even-for-their-industry exploitation of workers, but again, that's nearly universal across fast food (though I do mostly boycott that industry entirely).
Wait. This is in America and you're sharing a .co.uk link?!
I almost shit myself, but hopefully the burrito I consumed was not contaminated.
Oh, big surprise.
Crisis over, just normal reactions to eating Taco Bell. Nothing to see here. Seriously, don't look.
It's not Taco Bell, it's prewashed pre bagged lettuce that's suspected to be the culprit.
Also if eating Taco Bell is usually causing you diarrhea you have some underlying health issue going on.
Let me sing for you, the IBS anthem...
Buddy...
You couldn't be more wrong if you tried to be.
If someone can eat fast food and their stomach is fine, it means their gut biome is used to that shit. And if they ever ate healthy, then that would fuck their stomach up, until their gut biome gets used to healthy food.
When people say fast food fucks their stomach, telling them you can handle it is not a flex.
It just means you e normalized eating insanely unhealthy food to the point your body has adapted to it, and you desperately need help with your health
But because you're acting the way you are, very few people would be willing to explain this to you...
My wife and I cook 90% of our own food from scratch and probably get more fiber and vegetables than most Westerners. We occasionally treat ourselves to fast food, including Taco Bell. Never once has it given either of us diarrhea.
I don't believe you
And if you think the worst thing about Taco Bell is that it has fiber and vegetables, then you clearly don't understand this topic. If that's not what you meant, I have no idea how anything you just said was relevant.
You don't believe that we cook most of our own food with a focus on whole foods and vegetables or you don't believe that I'm able to eat Taco Bell without getting diarrhea?
Don't waste your time on this conversation. He's known (at least to me) for being categorically incapable of conceding even the tiniest point in a discussion. Of course he would take issue with your description of your own diet because it directly contradicts the point he's trying to make.
Alright...
If you're going to pretend to be shocked that people lie on the Internet I'm just done here
People mainly get diarrhea from food contaminated due to unsafe farming, prep, or cooking practices. Fast food restaurants may be particular prone to this due to underpaid staff and buying produce and meat from the lowest bidder.
When a supplier is at fault, it can cause mutli-city outbreaks which attracts the attention of investigators. They have many times identified the souce of the contamination and the organism responsible.
That better describes what is happening in this case than "fast food is bad for you."
I live in Europe and don’t eat unhealthily (I’m surrounded by organic farms and cook at home daily).
I’ve had Taco Bell when I visited the USA and I was absolutely fine. So was my Indian colleague I was with that trip.
My guess is it’s actually fast food diets that means Taco Bell doesn’t sit well with people. Low fibre diet of fast food and then you eat legumes plus spices? Recipe for disaster if your gut isn’t used to breaking down fibre or dealing with capsaicin.
Username checks out.
Spices?!
At Taco Bell?!
And it's really not legumes either, it's their sawdust "meat product".
Like, the logic youre using falls apart the second you realize fast food French fries causes even more diarrhea....
You're operating under the assumption the people complaining about TB also habitually eat fast food burgers?
That doesn't make any sense, the people eating fast food all the time is used to it.
You are weirdly argumentative about peoples personal experiences. Last guy isnt even an american (nor am i) but you take their personal anecdote as some sort of challenge.
This guy's kinda famous for that. Just tag him as "unnecessarily agro" and move on.
Yes, spices at Taco Bell. The spices that flavor the food.
SALT is the only flavor.
So you're telling me that those jokes about Taco Bell suddenly became true?
Those weren’t jokes
The best jokes are based on reality.
It would make nauseous when I was younger so no joke here. These days, my elderly stomach and intestines treat taco bell food like a little bitch. Not that I eat there more than once a year
They should be investigated! How the fuck did normal Taco Bell break containment and get into grocery store produce????
Does it need the SCP treatment, like SCP-2789?
Throw the book at them! I got a case so bad I nearly broke my skull and the bog cracked.
When i worked at the mall we didn't have staff bathrooms so we'd often have to listen to someone in a nearby stall ringing the taco bells.
I haven't been able to find much of anything about what is actually recalled. I've heard people say salad mixes were recalled, but I've seen nothing of brands/or produced where to watch out for
Nothing has been recalled. Salad mixes are simply the current main suspect.
Telephone game?
With the current health administration, pretty much. But no the reason this article is aimed at Taco Bell is strange, because even in the article they state that people who didn't eat at Taco Bell have contracted it, and many are stating that this seems to be stemming from salad mixes. So it would make sense if taco bell gets its lettuce and what not in bags, one of their sources may be the same as wherever else.
Mant illnesses like this usually come from lettuce because we don't cook it. Dunking it under cold water for a second (like I and most others do) won't do shit to clean the bacteria all the way off. Like people always worry about salmonella from chicken, but that comes via lettuce as well. The only way you'd be able to stop that would be indoor growing of all our food really.
if you eat at taco bell you should expect some form of GI distress.
If that happens, your diet is so full of low fiber processed food you have colon cancer to worry about more than diarrhea.
Probably only affected nonveg food, yes?
Quite the opposite
