That's a pretty good icebreaker!
Just start saying shit it doesn’t matter how dumb or good
Let's break the ice
You are not alone, my friend
Same, this is my very first message in 3y on Lemmy.
Well done. Second one will be easier. :)
Welcome!
Also welcome! hope to hear more from you :3
Keep it up! Comments are easier than posting imho and everyone is pretty chill around here most of the time.
One day I hope to come up with a topic worth a post. I have no idea how some of you, like The Picard Maneuver, manage to post daily.
Every little bit of engagement helps Lemmy grow, so welcome!
Here’s your complementary Lemmy starter gift tote bags, complete with a Linux guide book, German memes, a shark plushie (courtesy of Blåhaj), an introductory book in leftist political theory, and a T-shirt celebrating neurodivergence (long sleeve and no-sleeve options available) - 🛍️
i thought that this was toxic to most liberals. lol
we're not supposed to actually read the book, just pretend that we have. mine supports the union of my ass and my couch.
In all seriousness, you absolutely should read theory, it's really helpful.
It feels more like philosophy, which I love but only have an amateur training in
We're all philosophers, even if we don't realize it! Philosophy is our world outlook, the way we percieve the world. To study philosophy is to play an active role in how we perceive the world, think about it, etc. I'm a Marxist-Leninist, and in being one I study dialectical materialism. This forms the basis of how I interpret the world, but even before studying dialectical materialism I had my own, uncodified, generally liberal approach to seeing the world. A good bit of idealism, metaphysics, and an attempt at materialism is how I would describe it.
Philosophy isn't the realm of the educated, it's for everyone. Part of how the ruling class retains cultural hegemony is in disseminating ruling class ideology, which often tries to gatekeep philosophy to high academia. While it requires study, philosophy is ultimately understandable even with purely amateur training.
By the way, if you're curious about Marxism-Leninism, I wrote a basic study guide you're welcome to check out.
jokes on all of us; that stuff is SO DENSE than even reading it won't make you understand it. they literally suggest using a study group to understand it. lol
It's better in the original [whatever language we don't speak]
german.
lol
This ain't Reddit. Welcome aboard! You'll be accepted here unless you're a right wing dipshit, then expect to get absolutely streamrolled.
To be fair, that depends more on instance.
That's true.
Just comment!
Congrats! 👏 🎉
I, also, was a long time reddit lurker. I still lurk here, but I've posted more on Lemmy then I ever did on reddit. Jump in! The water is fine.
hey we don't bite.
(most of the time)
Kinda in the same boat. I bask in the gentle flow of the comments here vs. the torrent of hateful slop on Reddit. I don't even feel the need to comment usually. Most of the time what I was going to say has already been said.
That is making every of your comment memorable...
glad to have you!
Also a longtime lurker with little time. But I like the verse and try to engage where possible.
We’re all mentally challenged anyway, just open your rat hole to whatever song your thinker dreams up.
You are welcome 😄
An easy way to get started is replying ":3" when you see the chance.
Welcome to the community !!!
No. Don't.
'Yoda Eye Squint' You should be!
Hi! Glad you jumped in (^_^)
There, you made the first step. Don't worry, most people don't bite.
Welcome, enjoy a complimentary meme I stole.
It's mostly not worth the trouble.
