Well thats not very hardcore of them at all. If i saw a banana moshing or crowd surfing id be stoked

sh.itjust.works

Right? All the hardcore people I know are pretty chill and don't take themselves to seriusly. When you start to act like you're "sooo trve" you're doing something wrong.

80

Maybe it's a Nazi Hardcore Gig, then I can absolutely imagine that this might happen, otherwise I agree, hardcore people are usually pretty chill, moshpits usually help anyone that fell etc.

12

In my experience, there are definitely some overlap in the people that show up for hardcore shows. Not saying that fans of hardcore tend to be nazis, more than nazis tend to show up at said shows.

This type of music is the opposite of what I would consider enjoyable. People are weird.

-19

It's not for everyone. Personally I didn't have any interest in hardcore until I went to a concert for one. Especially nowadays, it's one of the few genres that get people moving regardless of venue. It has the energy that so many live concerts heavily lack.

3

People are weird. We like what we like, and no one can really understand why some people's brains gravitate towards some things other brains are repelled by.

I'm sure I have some music tastes you and others in this thread would consider weird or off-putting (Peaches, the Canadian producer, comes to mind immediately for her overtly sexual songs and themes).

19

I now want a banana for scale at every metal show I go to (as long as I’m not standing behind him)

This band it appears is anti israel, loudly so. I feel that although this incident was bullshit and they should've left the banana weirdo alone, the fallout was amplified by Israel because the band criticizes them.

To be clear, Israelis are the Nazis.

-28

I agree with you that it is possible that this story is being sensationalized because the band is anti Israel. It just seems like it could have been a low key stupid incident that a few people on you tube might watch. The truth is 99% of our media is owned by hardcore Zionists and they can choose what to sensationalize and promote. Thanks for pointing out this possibility I will look into it. I’m adhd so I often see connections before others too.

3

And for the record I am just saying we should recognize their influence, even if we think these guys deserve to be cancelled.

No, you get real. Let people tell you why they are upset at someone and believe it.

They showed who they were. Can something else be true sure but tin foil hat conspiracy after a group abuses one of their fans won't get confirmed as true just cause you want it. We are letting you know why we are upset with then and you keep interrupting with your idea why we are upset. Its messed up and ignores others.

Plenty of racist asshats are opposed to Israel and also virulent anti Semites who assume that anything a Jewish person does is evil.

I don't agree with your presupposition that "opposed to Israel" implies "admirable" or "worthy of protection".

5

Nah. They did a super d bag thing all on their own. Israel wouldn't have had to help with this one. You don't get to be a next to no name band and tell a crowd to kill a guy and strip him of his clothes without getting abandoned by anyone with a reputation. Not since the 90's, anyhow.

17
lemmy.ca

Band got dropped from their tour. They also have taken down their FB page if I remember.

Their behaviour was shitty and they deserve having lost their place on that tour.

Also they were supposed to tour Europe on the bill with Hatebreed until Jamey Jasta heard about this.

96

Wait, the band singled out some dude in the crowd of Canadians for wearing a costume as wanting attention? The same band on an elevated stage being very loud and under spotlights? Did they feel threatened that they weren't the complete center of attention anymore?

Thank you for the comments letting me know the band was dropped from their tour. Live music is amazing and dying at the same time. It doesn't need wankers like these acts killing it faster.

81

The massive irony of a punk band calling someone out for not fitting in is undergoing gravitational collapse.

57
lemmy.world

What a shitty band, I'm glad they've been kicked out of the punk scene.

68
lemmy.world

While End It has not responded to the public callout, they have quietly gone missing from a few corners of the internet. Their Facebook page has allegedly been taken down, and they no longer appear on the posters and social media posts for Hatebreed and Life of Agony’s European Tour.

May they vanish

60

Not only are the bullies but they're cowards as well.

Anybody who follows a "hardcore" band like that is the worst kind of little pissant fuckweed. Then again the little shit fucks at that show who beat up a guy in a banana costume in order to get a fucking set list are exactly the kind of people I would expect to follow this kind of bullshit.

10

Agreed!

With their act of bullyism, End It has effectively - and inadvertently - brought about their own end.

I'm glad the gentleman in the banana outfit is standing up for himself.

I'm also grateful for the comments by other Lemmies here.

9
sh.itjust.works

Sounds like the band read the room wrong. It's kind of weird to call out someone for wanting attention while on stage too.

The fan later took to Instagram Stories to reveal that the costume was destroyed after the End It gig, per a report from The PRP. “People have been trying to dim my sparkle my entire life. It sucks, but I’m used to it,” he wrote. “I’ve surfed hundreds of people in this suit, all genders, all ages, safely. Especially, a lot of first timers that felt safe to approach me for their first surf.”

“[End It], two of your band members crossed the line…and I’m obligated to speak on it,” the fan continued, addressing the band directly. “F**k the police? While policing what people wear?”

He added, “The message last night; Conform or get called out, exactly the opposite of what hardcore is supposed to be. I was an unwilling participant, attacked and clothing removed at the direction of a band I paid to see.”

57
CluckNreply
lemmy.world

Then, the End It frontman offered the setlist to anyone willing to successfully “strip the banana.”

Offering a reward for beating up a fan is insane. Glad they were dropped from the tour.

59

And a bunch of morons accepted. The hardcore scene is unfortunately filled with morons who go to shows so they can punch and kick people.

8

What the fuck is wrong with them that they think this was acceptable? I'm glad they've been dropped from their upcoming tours.

I'm especially disappointed by the fans who fucking listened and attacked the guy, too.

Frankly, the banana guy has every right to sue their asses for encouraging violence against him and destroying his property.

Reminds me of a much worse incident, a clip I saw of a Travis Scott concert, he crowdsurfed and his shoe came off iin this kid's hand and he accused him of stealing it and tried to start a fuck him up, fuck him up! chant.

The crowd ignored scott and got the fan to safety in that case.

Isn't he the one that encouraged the fans outside the stadium to hop the fences and sneak in which lead to several people getting trampled to death?

20

Was that the same one where he refused to stop the show while paramedics tried to get to the trampled people? Not sure if that was him or not, it was maybe a few years ago

Edit: apparently it was, per the other commenter next to you

13

What kind of metal concert is it if there isn't a guy in a silly costume moshing?? One of my most treasured memories is being in a moshpit and getting decked by a guy in a chicken costume, absolutely folded, only to get dragged to my feet by several others before I even realized I was on the ground. Community, people, community!!

48

A person in a banana suit is basically a prerequisite of any ska show. We used to have inter-punk solidarity; these guys must have not gotten the memo.

45

Harcore vocalist on a litteral stage calling somebody out for wanting to be the center of attention and suggesting they should conform is some olympian level bullshit.

The desire for nonconformity is evidently limited to the institutes this band disapproves of.

Why is it I trried seeing a picture of this band on 3 search engines in different search terms, and no images were returned. They showed me other bands with end in their name, even with quotation marks around the name.

WTF happened to the internet? All three engines returned the same results too, they aren't even doing their own fucking searches it's all the same fucking garbage.

I'm curious what these douchebags look like, not the least as one used the n word and I'm curious if it's a white guy or what.

9

Here is the video of the beat down

Also this is a lot of the same band members as a group called No Pressure. Famous of course for their rapist drummer, and same singer of this band who kicked a girl in the spine.

Edit: Fuck them, and their abuser POS band.

13

I remember when web search used to be shitty. Then it got quite good. And now it's shitty again. I know why, because when you have to search multiple times, they get to serve you ads multiple times. But it used to be good where it tried to add similar search terms (like pants also searching for trousers) in the background so you'd find what it thought you were looking for.

7

Well according to the article, the band appears to be scrubbing their presence from the internet after this incident.

While End It has not responded to the public callout, they have quietly gone missing from a few corners of the internet. Their Facebook page has allegedly been taken down, and they no longer appear on the posters and social media posts for Hatebreed and Life of Agony’s European Tour.

Banana suit joke got old in 2010 or so. It's annoying and the people wearing them are usually annoying.

Doesn't mean you have to be a prick about it

4

Maybe they should stick to Taylor Swift covers if they're so afraid of anything different

4

yep that's why I was confused about the random different banana man at a different concert used by the headline

3

If I was a singer of a band and people showed up in costumes. I would get them on stage, celebrate their whimsy, and encourage more fans to show up in costumes.

A most pit with a bunch of people in costumes, that sounds like fun.

Hmm. I don't care about conformity or people wearing costumes, and I also don't support assaulting someone and tearing their clothes off.
