What is your "if I see it, I have to buy it no questions asked" album?

I guess another way to say it is “what’s your grailz”, but I’m curious about what records are sought out by people and learning why it’s important to them.

For me, it’s the Aquarius/Chinook 7” by Boards of Canada. Huge BoC fan and it would be the last record I’d need to complete their official discography on vinyl. Also pretty sure this verison of Aquarius is different than other released versions. Every once in a while it’s up on Discogs for $$$, but if I saw it in person I’d pay whatever the sticker said.

I already got mine. A copy of Infected Mushroom’s only vinyl release I’m aware of, Classical Mushroom. Usually goes for $150+ and found one for like $75 one time.

Both the Fixed and the Closer to God EPs by Nine Inch Nails.

They're both available on Discogs but they're expensiiiiive.

Yeah for some reason it’s different spending when it’s up on Discogs vs if I came across it in the wild!

Yeah in the wild I might feel differently, especially knowing I could go home with it there and then.

Oh man, about ten years ago I lucked out and found an early Uk press on my local record store that was pretty beat up. Thing about Maiden LPs though, even if there are a lot of scuffs and crackle, the music ends up overpowering the noise from the disc.

For me, it's Killers and Number of the Beast that I haven't been able to hunt down.

Candlemass' Epicus Doomus Metalicus. I'm looking to find it in the wild, but vinyl fair this weekend so 🤞

I was looking for it for a long time, but I was weak and ordered it from Discogs. No regrets.

Robert Plant and the Strange Sensation - Mighty ReArranger.

Edit: shit, and The Triplets of Belleville soundtrack

Edit: shit, and Knower - Knower Forever

If I ever get into vinyl, my first album would likely be R.E.M.'s Murmur. I've loved R.E.M. since 1991, but I only recently dived into their IRS years, and I was absolutely blown away.

Paw - Dragline

I don't really listen to that one often, but it is very essential for the development of my taste in music and also has helped me through some difficult times. It sadly goes for around 200€ on Discogs and I am not willing to pay that much for an LP I have not held in my hands. If I see it in the wild and in good condition, maybe.

Foetus - Deaf

Foetus' first album and the last one I am missing. Sadly was too late to grab one of the 2019 rereleases. So now I am looking for a good copy of that or of the 1981 original. Goes for about 80-100€.

Disco Elysium OST

Gets a repress now and then, but I won't give the publisher one penny after what they did to the developers and the franchise. So I am hoping to find a used one, but those too go for 200€. Not gonna pay that, even if I find one in the wild.

Hotline Miami 1 & 2: The Complete Collection

Another video game soundtrack. Another 300€+ I am not going to pay. Maybe there will be a repress in the future, who knows. But I don't think I will ever own this one.

Oh yeah getting video game OSTs is so nice, the FEZ soundtrack is definitely my second pick absolutely love that score from Disasterpeace

HeadHunters by Herbie Hancock, I've always wanted to own the LP

I overpaid for a version of this in not-great condition but I have no regrets.

Crowbar, "Broken glass" — apparently the record label withdrew all its releases, claiming it didn't have publishing rights. So it's not allowed for sale on Discogs per the "unofficial release" rule, and I don't know that this record has been reissued on vinyl.

The other albums I'd put in this category are available, they're just pricey, like Bohren & der Club of Gore, "Gore motel". I keep tabs on Secret Chiefs 3 7" singles too, but they run pretty steep for one track per side...

Yeaaaahhh, I have the new single on heavy rotation currently. Can’t wait for the new album!

Anything from my favourite artist's label, This Never Happened. Though the true grail was the first release, which was selling for $1500usd on discogs, until a repress was done which I was able to get.

3

If AFI's decemberunderground ever gets a reissue I'm gonna pick it up for sure. I've only found it for like 200+ USD used though, and that's just too steep for me at this point. its a fantastic album though.

Same story for Delain's The Human Contradiction. I have every one of their albums but that one.

3

The first band I ever fell in love with was Harvey Danger, so if I find any of their vinyls, I would probably buy one if it was reasonable.

3

Paranoid, the only Ozzy era Black Sabbath record missing in my collection. I promised myself not to buy it online, but it's a challenge to find a good copy.

3

The Fixx - Phantoms - seen every other Fixx album on vinyl but not this one and it’s their best album. And I don’t order vinyl online
