Polyphia - New levels, new devils (single sided, limited edition, numbered, gold and white)

https://www.discogs.com/release/28454899-Polyphia-New-Levels-New-Devils

Talking about masters of their craft, Polyphia are up there with the best.

This is a limited edition on greenyl, some kind of eco friendly vinyl alternative bullshit. Extremely sick variant.

Pick of gold lp etched b-side

If you squint you can make out the kitties 🐱

Lorna Shore - I feel the everblack festering within me (ltd Deluxe Gatefold Golden 2lp)

https://www.discogs.com/release/35078357-Lorna-Shore-I-Feel-The-Everblack-Festering-Within-Me

Yeah, this is a tough listen. Not sure what drew me to this. I think that I want to try to find beauty in unexpected stuff.

Well, here we are.

These guys sure are masters of their craft and their music is fucking insane! The video for “prison of flesh” is equally mental.

“Glenwood” is kind of sweet in a way, even?

Anywho, conflicted abt this one. But that is how life is sometimes.

Slift - Fantasia (loser edition starlight vinyl)

https://www.discogs.com/release/37533543-Slift-Fantasia

Since this variant isn’t on Discogs yet, I just put the link to the white vinyl variant (Which I also own). This one looks fucking sick though. D side is etched with band logo.

New album by french rock gods Slift. Just got this in today and I’m listening to it for the first time as we speak.

First impression is that it feels sonically and musically somewhat of a departure from earlier work. More voice and keyboard oriented but still unmistakably Slift! 🔥

Enter Shikari - Lose Your Self (Eu variant teal/white smash)

https://www.discogs.com/release/37092798-Enter-Shikari-Lose-Your-Self

Yeahhhh the boys did not disappoint with this album. Instead of releasing it slowly with singles and stuff, they just dropped the whole album.

Thanks to @[email protected] for the heads-up! ❤️

What can I say? It is the absolute shizznizz! Even if it’s on the short side @ 41 minutes, there’s lots of bangers and Shikari audiofucks.

Raye - This Music May Contain Hope (marigold yellow edition)

https://www.discogs.com/release/36875179-Raye-3-This-Music-May-Contain-Hope

Yeaaahhhh, not sure what to think of this one yet. Raye is an amazingly talented artist. Let’s begin with that statement.

Saw her live with my kid some years ago here in Holland right about the time when she was breaking through. She brought that room to tears. I have never witnessed something like that at a concert.

This woman has the spark, fo sho!

Then she drops this. Equal parts pretentious, convoluted, silly and genius? Again, not sure yet. Some of it works, some of it just misses the mark.

You can hear that the label spent LOADS of money on this. Not much inspiration or intrinsic beauty here, tho.

So yeh, I’m on the lookout for album # 3. Cuz I know she can do it!

That’s the only hope I got from this album.

Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat (remastered)

https://www.discogs.com/release/7550126-Jennifer-Warnes-Famous-Blue-Raincoat-The-Songs-Of-Leonard-Cohen

This is a collection of Leonard Cohen songs, interpreted by Jennifer Warnes. Shoot me if you want but I like this wayyyy more than Cohen’s tired old voice.

Some of these songs are heartbreaking. Jennifer Warnes’ voice is so beautiful!

This edition is also top notch and crystal clear.

The Vernon Spring - Under a familiar sun (exclusive Shea coloured edition)

https://www.discogs.com/release/33986646-The-Vernon-Spring-Under-A-Familiar-Sun

Not even sure how to categorize this. The Vernon Spring is a category of its own. A blend of ambient, jazz, soul and random noise.

Never fails to put me in a dreamy mood. Painting pictures with sound, like a finger stirring your soul. Whatever that is supposed to mean 😃

Anywho, check it out.

Lizzard - Mesh (black sheep edition)

https://www.discogs.com/release/32455200-Lizzard-6-Mesh

Amazing band from France. Saw them live in Nijmegen a while back with the kid. They played Merleyn, a small café with maybe 30 people in the audience. And they proceeded to tear the roof off that room!

Favourite track: the Beholder (if you have patience, start it at the previous track “Minim”. Both songs are connected)

Leech - If we get there one day, would you please open the gates (black dust splatter, numbered)

https://www.discogs.com/release/21179935-Leech-6-If-We-Get-There-One-Day-Would-You-Please-Open-The-Gates

At what point are we going to reign in these pretentious as fuck post rock bands with their insanely long and convoluted titles!?

This is getting ridiculous!

But I digress. Apart from the obscenely long album title, the music is top notch! At times playful and 80’s sounding, the next moment it’s mysterious and atmospheric.

Just like Swiss cheese, one bite is more cheese and the next is more air.

Ladies and gentlemen: Leech
