I don’t know if you wanna bomb DC. I like a lot of the monuments and museums there. Can you just gas it instead?

Didn't it get guttered and rebuilt a couple of decades back anyway. I'm sure I read somewhere, actually it might have been in one of the X-Men movies, that it's completely different now to how it what originally rebuilt after the fire. So this would be at least the 4th iteration of the White House.

3

Just make sure you get that gaudy nightmare currently in progress on the east lawn.

11
piefed.zip

They're the only country with experience in burning the White House to the ground. Just let them do their job.

57

It was the British and they didnt burn it to the ground so I'm not sure why people think thats what happened. It was a retaliation attack for the US fighting in Canada, sure. But they weren't Canadian troops.

They didnt burn it to the ground because the building burnt too fast for them to get the fire hot enough. The outer walls and bits inside were still standing. I believe the British even ate dinner in the house because the chef had prepared it for the president or something but I couldn't find a source for that.

1

I mean, I live here and I'm kinda alright with it.

This country was built for white, rich, racist men that didn't want to pay taxes. Let's just start over.

19

Maybe going back to being a French or German colony would be more sensible

Aside from the government parts, a lot of DC residents are at least non Republican voters, I suggest narrowing down the target area some.

I'm afraid if I offer suggestions I'll start getting knocks on my door at 2am.

12

Mega churches, billionaire bunkers, pent houses, suburban mansions, ... trucks with testicles

10

There are like 15 conservative/republican people in this entire city, and that's only because there is one in the white house plus his crew. It's definitely the bluest place imaginable, in the USA at least.

9

A neutron device will suffice.

Nice and sterilized of all the virulent filth infesting it now

4

The people we wouldn't like would scurry away from there the second things look bad, so no need to bomb it. Just have to hunt them down with boots on the ground really.

The Canadian government can even say It's an operation to take care of pedophiles.

I'm never gonna stop reading this as Furry and being like "holy shit is that actually what they named it"

I originally hail from north GA and spent nearly 40 years there and Atlanta, what’s wild is that while where I live now in WA is obviously more anti Trump and but the folks ain’t nearly as anti authority or “fuck the man” as we are as a baseline, there’s some of that and Oregon is a different story but I’ve found it interesting

i had someone tell me as an Appalachian, i didn't understand the power of a union the way she did as a Michigander and i just stared at her, dumbfounded. America's first unions were in the south. the most powerful union America ever had was based in West Virginia. we absolutely know the power of a union, and wrote many of the tunes that have been solidified as Union Songs. the reason our unions don't have the power they once did is largely that we couldn't get solidarity from the Industrial unions for our Primary Unions. our collective direct action was thwarted by class traitors claiming to act on class solidarity.

but the thing is, the southern libertarian trope? that's not a fuckin' act. southerners legit hate authoritarians. we hate them because we've suffered under them. we don't need city folk telling us to hate authority. we need help educating our neighbors that a libertarian capitalist is just a fascist faking.

and i'm seeing something i've never seen before right now. there were zero pro-trump counter protestors at No Kings. zero nazis. people are unified in their understanding of who the problem is right now that i've never seen before. and i live in a right to work state. but still the union is gaining power. people would rather potentially get fired than have their boss be a local microgod.

3

Preaching to the choir brother, the South’s got a lot of problems but the common conception that it’s a just a bunch of idiots, racist, and inbred hillbillies allows them to ignore the actual disenfranchisement and oppression going on both in the south and their own back yards. And the ruling class purposefully encourages and perpetuates that perspective, it both keeps the vast majority of the black people in this country impoverished and without representation AND keeps any sort of class consciousness from forming across different regions!

3

The coastal part, sure. The mountain area of Washington is pretty conservative.

1

To me this attitude is the equivalent of telling a comedian to "stick to comedy" when they make jokes about politics, or how "woke" sci-fi is when they make commentary on society.

These things are intertwined, to a large degree.

3

I didn't pay extra for the French cheques. Just regular American checks are good enough for me.

Here, I'll even help you spell mar a lago correctly, so you can find it on a map.

Do you promise, Canada? Really promise? If you do... You can stay. You don't have to go. Let all of our regions be vassals until each respective one individually proves itself worthy of becoming a province. The province of New England would welcome you as liberators and celebrate your arrival as the new independence day...

24

As a Nova Scotian, I welcome New England as our next province.

Just leave your sports teams behind. They can move to Delaware.

Given recent precedent, targeting world leaders to effect regime change seems to be fair game. If someone were to, say, take out the president, vp, and all the cabinet members... Well, there's not much we could say about it except thank you.

24

... At this point i almost wonder if Mexican federal leadership would give our states a better shot at self determination.

4

well they are all living on bases, so it wouldnt be that hard to target them with bombs and take them all out at once. most of all they are also afraid of thier OWN MAGAT supporters, thats why they moved onto bases.

Edit: One of the comments pointed out that he's counting the ceiling tiles while they strap the prisoner up with a mic. It's so perfect.

Also autistic. Seconding that this is hilarious. I'm with the reporter, the prisoner makes prison sound like a good place to be.

I stacked paperback books as a toddler, straight in a line. My dad taught me to do them in a brick pattern for stability.

2

It feels weird rooting for another country, but the USA sucks big donkey dick right now. I'm team Iran or anyone who assassinates or abducts trump. Fuck em all.

4

Then when their terrorist bombing plane gets shot down, they want the world to weep for the invaders who got shot down blowing up another country

America is not a race moron.

Im an indigenous person who your country raped and pillaged. You are not the victims here.

Trying to pull out the race card, pathetic

2

Actually, i didnt read the rest of your comment. I didnt mean to ignore what you said about yourself. Just wanted to clap back on you being fucking pedantic.

I dont care about the race card. I know how awful a large part of my countires population is, and how awful our history and modern day leaders is/are.

But using that as a reason to be intolerant or hateful to all americans still makes anyone a shitty intolerant asshat.

I'm gonna guess Canadian indigenous, probably a tribe that fled to Canada or was already residing in both countries such as Huron, Dakota, Sioux, or Cree.

No one is okay because of America, and Americans are directly to blame.

You think these responses are hostile? It's only going to get worse. You're an island now. No one wants to visit you. No one wants to associate with you. No one wants to trade with you. My friends are embarrassed to be American.

And it's only been a year.

I have as much control over what’s going on in your country as I do in America. Literally none. I’m not even an American citizen. So maybe take a step back from the situation and use some critical thinking?

5

Funny how it’s nobody’s fault when it’s time to take responsibility, all Americans are suddenly blameless. Well keep telling yourself that when the bombs start to drop, cause frankly you guys didnt give a shit which of us were innocent, so I won’t shed a tear when it’s your turn.

If you’re not American shut the fuck up and stop defending them and jumping in

If only neolib capitalist states cared about actually liberating people and not just invading, bombing, and regime changing sovereign nations for money and oil

I never understand these usian thinking the orange guy is the source of all their problems lol.

yeah he is kind of a pedo clown POS, but its not like he can decide on his own whatever the hell US doing to this world

5

Yeah people talk as if we haven't been regularly commiting genocides in the middle east for the last few decades now.

3

That's his job, a punchable public face for all of our contempt; it's the first job he's ever had, and he's not too shabby. Late bloomer.

What clowns are next? Can we find anyone as despicable?

2

if only we didnt rely on oil. we would never need the Yemen Pipeline to steal oil in any way possible with the excuse that were spreading democracy. Ohh yeah we need coal and not electric. Who would fund the Gaza resort with a big golden statue?

3

Tbf main money is from military industrial complex and polymarket these days no?

2

Following that argument, how many people should ICE send to concentration camps before it's ethical to bomb a girls' middleschool?

Skip DC and just deliver the just desserts where they are needed most.

2

I think America needs a taste of its own medicine. They need the war to come to their soil for once, so they can stop playing war in everyone else’s home. I can’t wait for cheap drones and military strikes to start happening inside the us mainland. They will act indignant, like victims, like “how could they bomb our homes??” Thats what you terrorists do to everyone else, it’s your turn to be afraid

3

So… you are aware that Congress but ZERO to do with this war.

This is not America’s war.

It is the war of a petty would-tyrant.

That’s plain and simple.

Wishing harm on people who had nothing to do with it makes as much sense as wishing harm on yourself.

2

Think of how the Iraqis felt. Imagine seeing your nation's leader pulled out of a dirt hole, disheveled and shitting himself, only to be swiftly killed.

Not so funny now, is it!?

1
lemy.lol

A land war between Canada and the US? Canada's only hope is in winter. But no matter what it would be an insane blood bath. People from both nations would switch sides, but US civilians have more than 10 guns per Canadian and rednecks from all over would show up hoping to taxidermy a syrup slinger.

The Geneva Convention war crimes list exists because of Canada. If it's on the list... it's because Canada did it to the extreme. America would be fucked.

1
lemmy.world

No, I wouldn't like it. No country should bomb another to force regime change. I don't care how shitty the leader being replaced is. I want Trump gone, but not like that. I know this is a joke, but I feel like this needs to be explicitly stated.

-4

Why must it be explicitly stated? Do you think the thread will inspire Canada to actually do this otherwise?

10

It needs to be explicitly stated because there are still people who don't understand that violent regime change is wrong.

-1

The allies? Like the US, who didn't declare war on Germany until after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, two years after Germany invaded Poland? Like the Soviet Union, who signed a non-aggression pact with Germany in 1939, a pact that wasn't terminated until Germany invaded the Soviet Union in 1941? Those allies?
