At this point, they might as well rebrand to Macroslop© Slopilot®.

9

This is actually pretty accurate considering they also were the ones that killed Windows.

20

Microslop wants people to stop calling their AI slop "slop"? Well stop making slop then.

37

Microsoft wants people to stop calling AI content slop. People want Microsoft to stop pushing slop.

I predict nobody will get what they want.

I care about what Microsoft wants about as much as Microsoft cares about what I want.

arguing that humanity needs to learn to accept AI as the “new equilibrium” of human nature.

So the bubble has reached the desperation phase already?

“We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication,” Nadella wrote in a rambling post flagged by Windows Central, arguing that humanity needs to learn to accept AI as the “new equilibrium” of human nature.

I’m starting to notice a recent trend in tech CEOs. They seem to be saying “yes, we know you hate it but too bad get used to it”.

28

That's definitely not a modern trend. That's what they always say when people don't like their decisions. Unless there's a board of directors with their hand up the CEO's ass parroting the appology for them, they will never admit wrongdoing.

They're narcissistic pieces of shit. All of them.

7

Yup. First they give the middle finger to their customers, then they do it to their investors. Because who is punishing them?

2

Please stop nagging people to use your shiny new slop generator.

Come on people, think of the shareholders! /$

Slop, MicroSlope, MacroSlop, it's BS all the same.

23

It is slop

Go fuck yourself

Give people an OS that works and works in a way that's a dumb pipe without AI "improvements"

22

Who the fuck cares about users, we've already got their money. We only care about keeping the shareholders happy.

Typical corporate bullshit, trying to hog all the credit.

How about if we call it MicroSlop? That way everyone associates Microsoft with AI slop, which is what they're becoming. They should want to promote their commitment to AI, right?

MicroSlop it is. Let's all help them with their crowd-sourced rebranding!

17
leminal.space

Nah, see you made it look too appetizing.

The kind of slop I'm visualizing is more like

Now now, let's save some of that vitriol for the rest of these tech clowns. Microslop are not the first nor the only rich pieces of shit pushing for this stuff.

lemmy.today

Yeah, but this is the guy trying to silence us at the moment, and the label fits so well. We can still add slop to every other brand name, too. MicroSlop doesn't have a trademark on it.

Or maybe they do. If I were them, I'd trademark it and get the domain name, just to keep anybody else from using it against me. Hmm, brb...

Yep, someone already got it, and it's not Microsoft.

3

ohhhh hopefully they're as pissed off at AI as they should be. That'd be great for it to become a parody of some sort... Especially if it were a strong satire of their main website to the point where it'd confuse old people and others that fall for phishing scams. Make it look identical to MS except for all the obviously 'generated' text and images...

Then the more you confuse people and the more attention it gets, the better. Not only will the confused think MS is really misusing machine 'learning', but if you ended up sued by MS because idiots got confused over the obvious satire... oh man, that'd be a glorious court case.

"You see, your honor, I made it abundantly clear they were signing up for Microslop OnẹDrive, Not Microsoft OneDrive"

It lives and dies by consumer demands? That hasn't been the case since we started this fucking race. It has pretty much been an Investment run enterprise since the very start. Name a single LLM derived product that is consciously being bought by consumers. It's all subscription based models that don't deliver on their promises. Nothing is living up to its promise.

Where is the AI that I can say: plan an appointment with my dad. And it links our agendas, sets the alarm, orders a bottle of wine, asks me to order an uber because im out of gas, and otherwise i should leave a bit earlier. Where are the actually smart intelligent assistants?

15

Oh don't worry. That AI is definitely in the commercials.

5

You see, you're making the mistake of thinking there's intelligence anywhere inside this thing we keep calling "Artificial Intelli-" OH! I see the problem, you've listened to our marketing team's fraudulent lies ad campaigns, silly you!

We need to get beyond the arguments of slop vs sophistication," Nadella laments, emphasizing hopes that society will become more accepting of AI, or what Nadella describes as "cognitive amplifier tools." "...and develop a new equilibrium in terms of our “theory of the mind” that accounts for humans being equipped with these new cognitive amplifier tools as we relate to each other.

That's from a link in the article

And it's completely coherent!

MY SLOP IS ON A WHOLE NEW LEVEL THANKS TO COGNITIVE AMPLIFIER TOOLS AND A NEW THEORY OF THE MIND.

8

Computer, denoise this nothing until it's something, I mean create art.

3

There was this audio book thing we used to have when I was in kindergarten. It was about farm animals, and each animal had its own sound effects. Pigs had the sound effect of a man saying the phrase "sloppity sloppity sloppity slop, sloppity sloppity sloppity slop".

This is now my mantra whenever I see AI slop.

Maybe we should start chanting it en masse at these tech conventions any time AI is being discussed as anything more than a massive waste of resources.

13

Say it with me:

slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop slop

12

The whole naming is wrong though. It's not an intelligence. He should've said LLM content.

12
lemmy.world

This man has absolutely no idea how basic human behavior works. This will only increase the use of the "slop" label. Does he only interact with employees in his life?

10

lol silly he's an Executive. He doesn't even interact with other human beings, let alone employees.

4

Aw shucks, I came down with the AI psychosis, and it told me to just keep hitting Nadella in the face with a 12 lb mechanical keyboard untill he reboots correctly and stops just printing out arcane error codes...

I... I gotta do it... he's got the ... the seahorse emjois, he's hiding them!

Same place he keeps all his pictures of my desktop!
