Rebuilt one of my favorite childhood sets - Robo-Guardian 6949

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/38488527

Spent a few hours digging through my tub of pieces and managed to find almost all the right parts for this set. Some adjustments were necessary to accommodate replacement parts and there is some recoloring going on, but I think it just makes it look battle-worn.

It was fun, but idk if I'll rebuild another set until I have a good way to sort everything out. I'd love to put the Mege Core Magnetizer back together, but that's twice as many pieces to find...

When I sorted my childhood Lego out 20 years later, I bought a stack of Tupperware containers and sorted everything by piece type (plate, tile, brick, etc) then from there was able to pull out the parts I needed to reconstruct my old sets (with the help of bricklink for the missing pieces).

This reminds me a lot of Alpha-5 from classic Power Rangers.

Thanks for the tip. Nice to have a more active community to help replace r/lego.

You're welcome, it's not that active yet but we're getting there!

I love this set! I too have it rebuilt from when I was a kid!

Show it off! The biggest problem I had was that I couldn't find the gears for the arms. I used some that were almost the same but just a bit larger so I had to make the shoulders slightly taller to fit them. But that was a fun challenge.

So, if you want to, you can order the pieces you're missing from BrickLink.com.

Here's the link for this set: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=5437#T=I

Make sure you're looking at the "Set Inventory" tab and scroll down until you find the pieces you need. You can then order them from a vendor. Good luck!

Edit: most of the gears are approximately $. 02 per piece. There's probably a min so once you're in their store, look for minifigs!!
