My handmade brick separator holster

I hope this isn't against any rules but I have to preface this by saying that this was a little non-lego (but lego-adjacent) project I was working on for a friend's birthday present. He is really, really into lego, and whilst I do enjoy building the odd set, I'm not really into it as a hobby per-se, so something lego related seemed obvious.

I was thinking what to get him and it is no use buying him a set because he either already has it or doesn't want it...

So I decided to use my own hobby and skills to make him something, and then I got an idea in my head that I just couldn't shake - the idea of a proper little leather tool pouch, with a belt loop, for a brick separator just seemed like such a perfectly silly idea...

So I went about taking measurements of the only separator I could find, utilised CAD (cardboard aided design) to make little mockups in paper to work out dimensions then constructed a proof-of-concept piece to check for fit etc. This version (the red one in the below pictures) has no belt loop and only a simple hole punched in the top to work as a keyring.

So when designing the final version I made some changes, I of course added the belt loop with two rivets but also elongated the top "tab" so that I could fold it over to make a channel for a split ring.

And I'm really happy with the result! I gave this to him today and he is incredibly happy with it and plans to bring it and show it off in a con in Denmark in September. Far from being just silly little project he, and some other people I've shown this to during the initial development, have said that actually this might be weirdly practical... Either way, I had a lot of fun making it and I've made somebody happy so just wanted to share my silly little project.

My second Spyrius-inspired MOC

Companion-piece to my Spyrius Saucer Scout-inspired MOC. This one was way harder... Since Saucer Scout is (almost) rotationally symmetric and has no obvious front/back, I wanted to build something that had no obvious up/down.

It's (almost) perfectly bilaterally symmetric along two axes, and one mirror-line runs through the middle of a stud which created massive construction headaches for me.

I've dealt with half-plate offsets before, but this was the first time I've had to break out graph paper and a calculator to work out how to move things around by a quarter plate thickness to get them to line up.

I wanted it to be highly playable so I put a lot of effort into making it surprisingly sturdy despite its fragile appearance. The wings and neck are locked in tight so you can swoosh it around without breaking anything.

Since there's no definite up/down, you can rotate the center engine on the back to spin the minifig in the cockpit around, so his local "up" can point in any direction.

And just for good measure, it's got two detachable scout drones (also bilaterally symmetrical along two axes because apparently I hate making things easy) that dock on the back of the wings/fins.

Unlike the previous MOC, I tried really hard not to use any illegal techniques on this one. I'm not positive that it's completely legal, but there's nothing egregious. It feels really solid.

Here's what the internal construction looks like in the core - a fair amount of hidden Technic to hold things together (getting this all to line up perfectly was a nightmare):

The Widowbloom Lotus

This is the result of my sister getting me another magnolia branches set for birthday and finally utilizing it. I always enjoy faces, so I felt that I needed to try something different, but keeping true with my squ1ddos-ness 😛 It has been a huge hit with my LUG as well. It's more colorful, but yet still deadly looking. 😉

The Architect and assimilated companions

Okay, I’ll level with ya, I did not realize these builds would cause me to create such a lengthy and visceral story. However, I’m proud of it and maybe I should pursue making an actual story book? Anyways, I digress. This is an origin story for the Architect, The Torment Nexus, and the beautiful Veinhart Soul Engine and Swarm Core. These builds and their counterparts are all connected… it only took me this long to finally piece it all together. Nothing is AI generated, all my own madness. As I said, this new chapter has definitely encouraged me to take a chance. Let me know what you think.

Eons ago, before the days of the Gorath Collective and Rechidna Prime, was the industrial planet, TSyS-Hem. This planet was the sole provider for everything that the Phanor galaxy required. The planet was home to a race of intellectual beings, Jilew-crem that refined a natural resource, Ethnyr. This was the beating soul of the planet that helped stabilize their colony and was rich in this almost universal resource. It could be used in multiple ways, ranging from food all the way to fueling their star freighters. Unfortunately negotiations fell through during the Benure trade wars and soon TSyS-Hem became the prime target for this onslaught of inverse terraforming.

The Jilew-crem were a docile and passive race, and hardly ever resorted to conflict. They asked others to assist in preserving TSyS-Hem, but greed filled their allies eyes and they too assisted in the desecration of this planet. One of the beings escaped, a high elder of immense knowledge; cowered in a vacant cavity that once was home to Ethnyr. They watched as the lush landscape turned to a barren and defiled wasteland. Fields of translucent blue that once covered the ground had been ripped up and the blood of the Jilew-crem flowed through the empty fissures of Ethnyr. Screams and explosions spread over the surface as if draped over with a blanket of murder. Species from every side of the galaxy did their part in the planetary evisceration of TSyS-Hem. The high elder cried and consumed the tincture of hybrid Ethnyr and Croasx to blissfully commit suicide. Shaking violently they ingested every drop and collapsed to the bleeding ground. Motionless the creature lies, hidden in a cave as the remains of the planet’s life essence is ripped away.

They awake, seven days later to the plague of silence. Emerging feeble and frail from the chasm that shielded them from the onslaught. Gazing out over the landscape, they’re stricken with the utter realization no one is left. As they attempt to find their way home their body starts growing strange appendages and their spine becomes twisted and contorted. Writhing in agony and expelling bodily fluids the being now lays face down. A grotesque abscess pulses and protrudes from their back. The first phase of the Genexoscalarpting process has begun. Soon will follow the second phase which is blinding rage and lastly death. This was due to Xenerexes invading and transforming the air into volatile fuel, to expedite the extraction of Ethnyr. Phase two sets in as they start running, faster and faster. At this stage now they have sprouted 6 spiny legs allowing them to jump to great heights and move at incredible speeds.

Rotting carcasses of various creatures cover the once tranquil ground. Machines of war have flooded the translucent landscape, the color of death only remains. A sight of sadness is brought to the elder’s eye as they reach home. Nothing remains, but a charred and destroyed mess. However the elder then recalls they installed a hidden apothecary under the dwelling. Skittering into the hole and frantically pulling debris up to unearth their safe haven, the next last phase starts to set in. The ferocious and intense speed, diminishes and soon they are barely able to stand. Collapsing to the ground in anger and fatigue the light leaves their eyes. Lurched over, the being unconsciously reaches out one last time. Unbeknownst to them they uncover their saving grace. They awaken in daze to find they have unearthed the medicine. Exhausted from exhilaration and hunger they consume the anti-dote to Genexoscalarpting. They savor the greatness and relief that it bestows. As they ingest the capsules they feel foreign entity release and succumb to it’s exit. Quivering in fear and reprieve the being smiles and their fears wane. The creature now slumbers, lifeless in a puddle of a bile, excess Xenerexes by-product.

Days go by once again, and finally they awaken with the disgust they’re now a hybrid of Jilew-crem, and Xenerexes. A image of this new abomination is cast back to them from a shattered mirror segment lodged into the ground. Now remains a repulsive crossbreed and their head covered in a yellow hue. Painted over with a dead smile and empty eyes, their new body accepts this outcast. Angered with the actualization, they gather what resources remain to survive. They start the process of creating an assistant from the various body parts and machines littered on the ground. This will become the Engineer and their first companion.

The Architect forges on with completion of the Engineer, they set out to create one last being, the Prospector. This being of nightmares will be used in the collection of purveying various items for creating works of technological wonders no one has ever seen. These creations all reside within the Architect, which lives up to their moniker. This band of misfit abominations will one day create the Torment Nexus to terraform the landscape into a prosperous home.

TSyS-Hem will die during the terraforming and birth Rechidna Prime. This planet will flourish with a nanoscale by-product of a silicon based Ethynr. As time lingers on the Architect and the companions are extracted of their life-blood. The silicon Ethynr will consume them and birth the first new life. The offspring of this will become the Gorath Collective, in their infancy. Many millennia later, the Architect’s final blueprints will be unearth and utilized. This last great biomechanical product will be the Veinhart Soul Engine and Swarm Core.

Family Guy Star Wars parody - "It's A Trap!"

I have been busy with work and posting on here isn't ideal, so I apologize about this belated post.. for May 4th.

Family Guy and The Mandalorian got me back into Star Wars, and when I saw the parody of Endor, I knew I had to create a scene. Albeit not the perfect representation of Endor, it's a forest moon, so, I made a lush forest. I was going to use the mountain bikes, but I wanted to keep the same colors, so I opted for the regular bicycles. I had to order a few figs, but I think I did good? I would love to expand the build a slight bit to make it grander and include "Han's part" along with PeeWee Herman's part. We'll see what happens, until then, enjoy.

My first MOC in years

I was feeling a little down in the dumps today, so I decided to cheer myself up with some LEGO time. I rebuilt the first LEGO kit I ever got as a kid: 6835 Saucer Scout. Then I decided to see if I still had any MOC skills, and I went ham on my own version. It's chock full of illegal building techniques, but I don't care. After all these years, these plastic bricks still bring me so much joy!

The finalized version of the "Classic" Space Sentinel

One is never satisfied with their work and always need to revamp it. Well, this one was quite cumbersome and fickle. I stitched together a few things from my Live that came from frustration. I was beyond frustrated, and nothing was working. I use LEGO as an escape from reality, but when it crumbled, I crumbled. You can see how angry I got... I went back the next day and threw the build together, with more insight and structural integrity. 3 hours later the build was finalized!

As my friend says, "It's some sort of Gigeresque entity co-opted the classic space aesthetic for its own uses."

I expanded the build. Placed it next to the Sky Squid

One is never finished with a MOC. I went back and expanded upon this concept and I enjoy the concept a lot more now. The build is a bit more fickle and precarious, but it looks great! Someone on here mention that I place the build next to the Sky Squid, which I did and ya know, I feel that the two compliment each other greatly!

I am not sure what the next build will be... I stumbled across this.. AI page for horror and I can't get enough of it. Spooky Salad has released some gnarly looking Eldritch Horror ideas that I MUST try to create. My recently thrown together concept is "The Architect." I'll see what transpires from that.

I created a "Classic" Space Sentinel

I recently picked up some parts from the 90’s and ordered a bountiful amout of blue appendages. I knew that the blue would definitely be a perfect way to create some classic space abomination. I tried my best to adhere to the classic space color scheme as well, with a few color exceptions. I have recently been on a stint for creating these sentinel things and I knew when I acquired those parts what my next build would be! I want to expand on this corrupted space idea as well. Let me know what you think.
