I'll give you this as an example, I drive Uber and have a mas presenting trans person. I call them by their preferred name and drive them where they wanna go. That's it, and it's never a problem. No shit. The solution is easy too. Make every bathroom non-gendered with ceiling to floor walls and doors on the stalls and cameras in the washing up area. Add a guard or attendant if you feel like you have to.
The place I worked at in the UK remodeled all their bathrooms to be a hallway with doors to multiple single self contained unisex toilets, each with its own basin. Bathrooms were generally cleaner, more accessible and more available. No urinals, but urinals are gross anyway so no big loss.
I was really pleased when places here in Canada started doing this. A close family member is trans, and I really felt their pain when going to a public toilet where we had to stand in a line for men or for women. That stuff can make every bathroom visit fraught, especially with the expectation that men will stand next to each other to pee. I even hate that as a cis man. Far better for everyone to form one line with no questions asked and have a private stall.

I wouldn't be able to go. That is the truth! I was caught with some weed like 20 years ago and had to go to probation for 6 months. They tried to have me pee into a cup for 6 hours while he stood behind me. Couldn't do it. I had to get water after each try. Guy looked frustrated, and they started telling me what to do, I got so panicked I pushed as hard as I could and farted. The guy was a trooper, he looked confused and also definitely wanted to laugh but held his composure. They finally let me just use the stale even because what else can you do? Every follow up visit i was never asked for another random test, which is kind of normal if you don't look like your a problem, but I like to think its because I just can't do it.
I did many a peepee check while in the Marines. It was a rite of passage. Guys tended to have fun with it, although, as with general population, some dudes were piss shy, and you'd let them have their privacy. Secondly, for a lot of young people, the G.I Bill is the only real way to afford an education. You know that whole student debt issue that is crippling people financially for decades? Joining the military is a way to bypass that.
The uncomfortable pill is that at any point in the last many decades (ie: after abolishment of the draft) there was no good reason to join. WMDs? Known lie. Vietnam and not drafted? Known lie. (Tonkin was a lie)

Unless things have changed radically, when you enlist you're signing up for 3,6 or even 8 years of service with very little recourse for getting out (without messing up your career and maybe even your life).
I'm sure for a lot of people working in the military is just a job. It's a luxury to choose jobs based on personal politics and a lot of people can't afford that now.

We just handed over a historic amount of money to them as well, and even though I expect a large amount of institutional corruption, a significant percentage of it is going to go to personnel.
In addition to obscene salaries they're likely robbing detainees of any cash and personal items they were carrying. No due process or criminal charges means that there's pretty much no legal requirement to keep or return personal items like police normally do (TSA has been robbing travelers for years too) ICE can pretty much do what ever they want with it because the detainees aren't able to complain or press charges.

Welder I worked with at the coast guard was the laziest, most disgusting individual I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. He would regularly take 45+ minute "bathroom breaks" where he would sit in the stall on the phone with his wife or even straight up go to sleep sitting on the toilet. On the few occasions he actually needed to go, he would STILL TALK ON THE PHONE TO HIS WIFE.
WHAT THE ACTUAL GROWN UP FUCK.
I cannot fucking fathom a universe in which it is ever permissible to chitchat on the phone at work with your spouse while taking a shit. Never have I seen such little class or dignity in a professional setting. I asked my super about it and he said they've tried talking to him about it and he just does not see any problem with his behavior. Any other industry would get rid of him in a fucking heartbeat but government was always so scared of any kind of discrimination or cultural insensitivity complaint that they never addressed it. Now?
