I'd pick President Camacho over Trump. Easy choice.

He's also stupid but not mean-spirited, and in the end, he listens to the smarter guy.

in the end, he listens to the smarter guy.

That's how you know it's fiction.

I need to force myself to rewatch it. I watched it when it first came out and laughed my ass off. Then I watched it again about 10 years ago and didn't laugh as much. It wasn't a stretch anymore.

3

That movie ages so weirdly. I remember like 15 years ago, people on reddit were like: lol this is le literally waht's happening. Later when someon said something like that, people were like: aktschually the subplot is that mediocrity is the real enemy. And now it's back to: lol it's literally idiocracy. Although i already read some comments one or two days ago how that's not the point of the movie.

3

He'll champion women's rights. Trump always picks the worst person for the job.

The Southern District of New York (SDNY) attorney’s office is the same office that ran investigations into Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and singer R Kelly. The office also recently charged Sean “Diddy” Combs with sex trafficking and other federal offences.

Oh shit, fam. I thought the Trump admin was gonna give him a pass. Maybe not? I mean, I know NY is not Trump. I’m very happy to read this. I don’t think this can be pardoned because it’s a state charge, not a federal charge? Get ‘em!

SDNY is Federal.

This investigation will be dropped.

I thought the Trump admin was gonna give him a pass.

Tate's drug-addled mind probably thought the same. Should have looked in the mirror and asked himself if he looks like a rich white man.

4

My guess is they're investigating him so they can pardon him. I'm not sure how that system works.

3

I'm doubt that will be the case for long. Can't have the DoJ doing its job, now.

I wonder if murdering him in the street would be considered terrorism by the US Gov't?

I smell an executive order coming in fast to make him hands off to justice and the crimes he’s committed.

Would expect nothing else from this pathetic government.

32
lemmy.ca

No, the way it works is they start an investigation so they can suspend it later. That way if he doesn't do exactly what they want they want they can just re-open the investigation. It's how they handled the Mayor of NYC.

To keep a scumbag loyal you need to keep the threat of jail time hanging over him.

13

This is it. This is how mobs operate. A culpable employee is a loyal employee.

As a bonus: his sin isn't even tied to the organization. So blowing him up would be essentially risk free - a quality hire if there ever was one.

Edit: dammit, this is going to really happen, isn't it?

10

The judge in the New York former mayor Eric Adams case dismissed the charges with prejudice. He gets away with his crimes scott free, but they don't get to hang them over his head.

5

I think we’re all aware that the threat of jail time doesn’t really need a legal reason with this administration. Seriously, people are just going to be disappeared to El Salvador.

1

Even better, preemptive pardon, and Taye will be appointed ambassador to Epstiens Island.

Trump can't sell pardon for state crimes. I simply cannot believe that the US is so fucking corrupt that the president selling pardons is an actual fact.

1

Yes, he has federal charges. He also has state charges in Florida.

I just feel like maybe this is conflating lonely men with misogynists, which obviously are not mutually exclusive, but there are plenty of lonely males that aren’t hateful

It could be, but I imagine that a lot of nice lonely guys are suffering the consequences of the assholes that embody the first three steps.

12
sh.itjust.works

Maybe that’s where I’m misunderstanding the meme or I’m being unfairly reactionary—because I agree with your sentiment and I agree that it is absolutely an epidemic that’s damaging society and hurting people in extremely far reaching ways

11

Yeah, it is harming humanity in many many more ways than a bunch of single people's relationship status.

6
sh.itjust.works

See that just sounds like you’re conflating again. Yeah I think it’s mostly self inflicted by shitty people, but there’s a lot of people who have difficulty making friends and reaching out to others because of social anxiety and other mental and emotional health issues that don’t agree with incel rhetoric

22
sh.itjust.works

Yeah you can can show me that but that doesn’t make any change to the fact that not all people are the same. Can you not conceptualize multiple people with seemingly similar issues are not exactly the same? Do you honestly believe there are no lonely men who aren’t hateful?

24

I even said you’re right that there are plenty of of shitty misogynists out there? Like again conflation. Like if you have to disregard what people say to prove your point then you aren’t really proving your point. If you can’t engage with dissenting views in a good faith way then what is the point of replying at all? And once again I agree that there are plenty of young men that express hatred and vileness through their own despair, I agree about the manosphere and about the issues they’ve caused. Believe it or not we’re on the same side. Like I believe you when you say you’re capable of feeling empathy, but I’m not telling you to be empathic to hateful people, just to refrain from making assumptions about people—Which you almost seem to do before devolving a hateful homogenization of individuals again. Like do you assume all lonely people are hateful and prejudicial or just men specifically? Does this also encompass people with depression?

11

You are 100% correct. It’s deeply concerning that we can not discuss this huge societal red herring on social media without being mobbed on with downvotes and comment removals

Just toss his ass in prison already. He should spend the rest of his life there, and after he dies in prison they should send his body to Romania to buried in some prison graveyard there, symbolic of how he tried to escape justice there, but that is where his body will rest.

Trump got him out of jail and his party got angry at him for it. So his partisan DOJ of course is opening the investigation.

He’s not innocent but this is also politically motivated. They wouldn’t do this if it wasn’t for Trump meddling. I miss having an independent DOJ.

5

The DoJ didn't open this investigation. SDNY did. DoJ is just not interfering.

1

The Trump administration already interfered by getting Tate released from jail in Romania. Pam Bondi is already publicly corrupt. Tate has become a political liability for Trump and there’s a clear motive for his administration to put him away. I have more than enough probable cause to be suspicious here.

1

The Trump administration already interfered by getting Tate released from jail in Romania.

Trump himself directly interfered with the Romanian investigation, no question. That's not the same thing as the DoJ interfering with the SDNY investigation. Two separate things.

I have more than enough probable cause to be suspicious here.

Suspicion is not evidence that the DoJ has done anything to interfere with the SDNY investigation. In fact, it looks more like Trump/Bondi are not interfering specifically because they don't need to. Tate was gonna get popped by US law enforcement eventually, and was likely banking on Trump saving him. Since he's a liability, all Trump has to do is nothing.

2

Maybe a bit of a cold take, but my guess is he went back to Romania because Romanian or British prison would be preferable to a Salvadoran supermax.

1

I am not the only one who observed this, but Tate is clearly an insecure human being. He is not a bad looking guy and is quite successful, and yet spout these mysoginistic bs. That guy also needs therapy along with prison sentence.

-3

Yeah I think you don't know who you're dealing with here

He mostly isn't as successful as people think, it's mostly rented expensive crap that made him appear richer than he is. That is not to say he isn't wealthy, just not super rich as he showed off

Either way, that is the least of it. The guy has raped multiple young women just to "break them in" so that he can use them on his sex cam sites. He deals un human trafficking and he brags about all this as well, whilst apparently getting off on just humiliating people.

What this guy "needs" is a US prison joke to teach him some humility, really knowing wiaht he did to these girls.

I wish I wasn't at this level but people like him just no longer serve a purpose on this world. Once out of jail, he's the type that will just continue being him, he'll continue doing what he always has done. I'm conflicted as I'm against the death penalty, but this guy is just the type that is a cancer on humanity. You can't cure it, you can't make it better, you can only remove it and continue without it.
