Here you go, friend:

(づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ \

(You have to do two backslashes to not lose the arm :3)

26

Three, actually. The backslash disappears because it's used up to cancel the undescores (italics in markdown). By doubling it, you no longer escape the italics so the backslash is visible, but the arms and face end up looking like this: ¯\(ツ)/¯.

Maybe I am too young to have this opinion but I refuse to use emojis and only use emoticons, they feel more personal to me.

I'm probably just old but it's always faster to type :) than it is to find the 🙂, same goes for every emoji really.

Also they convey slightly different emotions

I was thinking about this earlier, it might just be me but I always thought the new generation of slang was just kind of lame. Of course I'm biased but like it just seems like there's not that much variety. It's just like the 14 or so different phrases they keep saying. Branch out my dudes

14

Because it's fake and part of a meme. Most kids don't use brainrot terms unironically.

Not agaain, lost the game twice this year already :(

4

I think Gen Z is about joining us millennials in being too old for that shit at this point, it's α taking over now

5

So the same as millennials back in the day?

Only not with smileys and different colloquialisms

1

Are you from the generation of email chain letters that asked you to scroll down and it's be neat ASCII designs?

As I suspected, language has evolved to the point where Ohio is considered a synonym for toilet.

8

The meaning of Ohio as a slang term has resulted in me being able to say "I'm leaving Ohio because it's gotten too Ohio for me", which I find delightful

I am somehow one step removed as XD feels young to me 8-)

But what is a meme if it doesn't miss GenX. Whatever. (I assume here that the 'I hate my wife' is meant to be a jab at boomer humor, but I may be wrong).

7

I was on BBS, Compuserve, and eventually AoL and others. I forget when I first saw it, but it felt later to me. It's possible it just wasn't popular when and where I was around and that meant I didn't see it until much later, but I don't remember it. I remember being confused the first time I saw it, wondering what it might stand for.

6

I used to enjoy trying to come up with silly emojis back in the day. I always enjoyed the annoyed Kirby: t(-_-)>

7

I thought the bottom one was all one word. Would have just given up on social media if it was

3

Seems like i'm kinda a 4th Option, i'm in the age for xD :3 and <3 but have no Idea what the others mean lol
