"Oh yeah? I'm gonna ask it what if Donald Trump lost re-election, then got re-elected?"

machine explodes

So that's what things would be if what's happening was just a result of a what if machine...

A man can dream, though. A man can dream.

"Yes, and".

All the way at the bottom are the Bitcoin white paper and a site to their merch store where you can get a shirt with Nixon or Regan or whatever doing a pose with the Bitcoin logo.

1
lemmy.world

That was added later then. This was a goldbug site from the start. It’s also wrong about most of the reasoning unsurprisingly

2

I couldn’t have taken enough drugs to write this timeline 20 years ago.

You must have been really optimistic to expect something different out of these morons, to me it's more surprising they managed to keep quiet until now

3

No, this is just a Nazi who has always been shitty. If you were fooled by him at any point, then now is the time to question your judgment. If not, then good for you. But you're still not infallible... None of us are.

3
lemmy.one

And what's sad is that he's wealthier than everyone that uses lemmy, combined.

Why the fuck does good shit always happen to bad people, and good people always get shit on?

Money does, however, buy security. Money would solve all of my worst problems and make the other ones easier to handle. We don’t need a lot, but sure as hell need more than we have now and people like him don’t deserve a damn fucking cent(besides any universal social programs because that’s what universal means and I ain’t gunna be that guy).

31

Money doesn’t buy happiness, but a lack of money is sure to bring unhappiness.

Probably not a popular opinion around here, but this is actually one of the rare cases where he is (was) extremely talented at his main thing (producing). That doesn't mean he deserves that disproportionate amount of wealth, but he's contributed more to culture than elon ever could.

13

This is basically undeniable, but what really makes me sad is the artists who don't seem to be Nazis or even right wing but still support this dude and stand up for him because he's been so influential on many of them.

5

You don't get wealthy if you're good, because it takes a certain amount of greed and materialism

12

He sounds dumber every time he tries to become relevant again. Does Kim have sile custody? Because I would go after it now.

4
lemmy.world

He's not only convinced they would say he's "One of the good ones," but he actually likes the idea.

2

I'd like to see what the people at the local Nazis convention has to say about it.

What's insane is that FOX allowed this commercial to air in the first place. I'm sure someone at FOX will say "We had no idea he would put this on his site", which we'll all know is bullshit because they scrutinize the fuck out of every Super Bowl ad before it gets to air. There is a 0% chance that nobody knew about this beforehand.

There is absolutely no excuse for this u/Remember_the_tooth. This is wildly inappropriate and completely out of date. There is absolutely NO excuse generative AI and MLL can't remake this for a sequel using actual Kekius and Trumpf for the modern times.

2

That's a really good point. Why rehash Mel Brooks' old content when we have actual live NeoNazis on our front porch. Kudos to you for your insight. We could probably just livestream a rally.

4

Guys, just because he went on Alex Jones to make racist jokes and talk about how much he loves Hitler doesn't mean he's a nazi

42

Do we know when the website was changed? He could well have changed it the moment the advert went live.

14

I was on his website yesterday and there was no swastika then. There was "white lives matter" and a bunch of nazi-adjacent symbols with plausible deniability but no outright swastika.

30
jaaakereply

The commercial itself didn’t feature the shirt or any nazi imagery. It was a 30 second clip of Kanye in a dentists chair telling you to visit his website. It only aired in LA.

I don’t understand this timeline.

The ADL is a zionist organization that was literally founded to protect a pedophile and child rapist who was, with no relevance to those actions whatsoever, Jewish. Do not take any of their "stances" as being for social justice.

Wow this is how old now, and I just noticed on the left starts clapping. An applause worthy punch for sure

It's shopify, which requires an account to report. So if anyone has a shopify account, please do the needful. Can probably be considered a threat of violence or terrorist organization, or both.

42
Rimureply
piefed.social

I have an account.

When I tried to report it as terrorist organization, the form gets stuck in a redirect loop. It's broken.

Threat of violence worked but I needed to provide my full name, phone number and address which felt pretty shit.

I want to but I think the Thunder filter feature is a bit aggressive. I blocked the word "US" but I realized a long while later that it was also blocking all links to my instance sh.itjust.works. I'm afraid I'll lose all titles with "yesterday" or "yes".

7
lemmy.world

I’m working on my own lemmy app. It would be cool to have settings for your filters like containers, starts with, ends with, word, part of word. But I also need to strike a balance between average users and power users. Maybe an advanced filter setting would be cool.

Neat! More options are always better. Do you have a community set up for progress updates?

1
lemmy.world

I created a community but I haven’t launched a beta yet. I’m a bit of a perfectionist but I’m also thinking I need to have a certain baseline of features to not piss off users.

This is the web app, but I will be launching a native app in beta soon. https://blorpblorp.xyz

My main goals are creating a seamless experience between web and native, having a no compromise experience on larger screens while also not compromising on small screens, and allowing you to browse cached content offline.

4

I would assume that the filters are case insensitive and filter whitespace but I don't know for sure. I should test some stuff out.

2

No cause then you'd filter out everything with "Ye" in the name, and miss out on a lot of cool bands like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Yello, Yes, Yella, and Yeti.

1
ludreply

That depends on how the filter is implemented.

If it's well implemented it should include the whitespace in the filter.

One cannot help but notice that NBC is directing viewers to said website rather than other websites that are not owned by Kanye West and are not selling swastika T-shirts, which probably have a harder time getting potential customers to show up. I see that they also have pricing information and product photos.

One imagines that social media and similar probably also is directing a lot of people there.

This does suggest that West might be onto something.

In a world where people and organizations didn't discuss and link to the product, he might not have the same incentive.

20

Reminds me of an article posted on Lemmy earlier about how there was a call for a bilingual sign to be removed in London. The article was actually about Elon Musk backing this move, about this sign, the controversy, etc. in reality he responded to some dude complaining about it with a reply saying "yes". Three letters, bam, several journalists are writing articles and people are posting your opinion all over the internet.

10

GOOD! Let assholes put a literal target on their chest. I'm fine with this. Fuck me, I should start selling Nazi merchandise so I can track them.

I actually didn't know that this was legal to do in the U.S.

14

There aren't a lot of jurisdictions in the world that ban the sale or display of the swastika (in Nazi-supporting circumstances). Australia and Germany are the only ones that come to mind, and Australia has only done so very recently (this year).

13
RmDebArc_5reply

Don’t forget about Austria, although I believe that won’t be for much longer as the next head of state is openly a Hitler fanboy

8

I didn't know, but that makes sense. My state in Aus also went further and banned the salute, and has actually prosecuted people under that law.

4

I'm not sure if displaying a swastika is banned, if it is I wasn't aware of that.

Most states banned the salute. The federal govt recently banned it too, with mandatory incarceration.

3

It's like a Mel Brooks movie! The guy in charge standing with his nose in the air, says something that any normal person would think is dumb as hell. And all the "yes men" are like "Bravo!" "Bully!" "Good show!" "Excellent!"

This goes for the orange man and X dork as well...

14

The most surprising thing about this story is his X account being deleted, but it sounds like this may have been a voluntary exit.

Anybody know what the official shop site is called? On yeezy(dot)com is only one item and that’s a white r-Shirt with a black swastika on the front.

The shop feels broken tho, because there are almost no ux elements.

Is he doing this to remain relevant?

11

That is the official website. It's linked on the wiki page for Kanye, and Kanye has advertised it on his Insta. I thought it was fake too because it's so poorly designed. You can't even see the price of the shirt until it's in your cart.

7
