That rock is so smooth and circular. I can't not pick it. I'm drawn to it.

Oh you knob. I forgot about that until your comment.

Here, take this:

Stick every time. Stick is a sword, a walking tool, a measure, a prybar. Rock is rock. You can throw it. You can hit stuff with it. That’s about it.

Rock is good. You can cook with rock, support and balance things, keep it as a pet, paint faces on it, wedge things that need wedging, use it as a paperweight, possibly shatter it into many knifey bits or sell it to your kid cousin as a magic rock. I think you can also do a few things with ropes and rocks, but I can't remember any of those things. Yes, you can throw rock, but rock likes most to bounce on water when thrown.

Heating pad. Counterweight on bear bag. Massage tool. Circle template. Door stop. Wheel chuck. Pothole filler. Sculpture source. GI Joe mountain. The list goes on.

You can admire the rock. You can just hold the rock, meditate over its roundness. The rock can become your friend, your little secret, a comfort you can take anywhere. The rock is eternal. If you cradle it for a lifetime, you might contribute a miniscule amount to its perfect shape. Your life can have meaning.

Yea but if we ever get attacked by the scissor nation you'll be ready

2

But if the paper nation flanks us we’ll be at a stalemate. We have a conundrum.

Stick is temporary, rock is forever.

23

I recently saw the Grand Canyon IRL for the first time. I'd always wanted to see it and it completely surpassed my expectations in every way

3

I take the Rock! It's much more durable than the stick and I bet it is really pleasant to hold. Also I can easily place it on my desk after I come home.

And I like to imagine how long it took for this rock to get his shape.

29

I imagine it got its shape by doing plenty of push ups, pull ups and drinking lots of juice.

Rock. Stick will rot quickly, but the rock will stick around as long as I don't lose it

28
lemmy.world

Stick. There is a 100% I will lose that stone skipping it on the first body of water I see.

Honestly, it's so perfect I'd probably choke and get 2 skips out of it. Anytime I stop and select a good stone I overthink it and throw terribly, anytime I just grab one and toss it I get 4 or 5 skips (6 if no one's around to see it).

5

Nothing worse than getting that perfect angle to slice through the water and it just goes "Blop" and it's gone.

2

sticks are everywhere, that rock tho, you skip that 6 times into a sunset and the genie that lives inside that rock will grant you a wish.

Why the hell are cargo pants so maligned in even the everyday casual fashion world? They're fucking awesome.

7
lemmy.world

Girls think we are hoarding the good pockets. They don't realize it's actually Big Handbag that got rid of their pocketses

7

Seriously! I hardly ever carry a handbag because it's more likely than not that I'll eventually lose it. Losing my pants is a lot less common, and there's so much room for stuff! Wallet, keys, phone, knife, dog treats, cool rocks, maybe a snake. The possibilities are endless!

I'm going to uplift rock and give it the ability to think so it can shitpost for me

6
lemmy.world

I'll combine them on a workbench to make a stick with stone duct taped to it. With that done, the world is my oyster.

The rock, (a) because it'll last longer and (b) because it's got a cool wrestler named after it. There ain't no wrestler called The Stick. I doubt I could smell what The Stick is cooking.

15

I was going to say definitely the rock, then I saw the stick. Now it's a toss-up.

12

Stick. Rock is just heavy thing you carry and maybe throw once. Stick, you can swing that puppy around all fucking day.

10

I'm not greedy but I want a dataset of how it correlates with gender and sexuality of responders. The working hypothesis is very promising. I want it raw 𓁹‿𓁹

9

Can you take both, is there a rule on taking both

The wording is a bit open to ambiguity

6
kbin.social

Rocks are for throwing. Even if it is perfect, it’s temporary.

A bunch of geologists, and many others who just like to collect (and otherwise use, like in art) pretty and/or interesting rocks and shells would like a word lol

Can't hear you I'm playing with my stick sword nerd

Perfect rock is for the wife, she'll put it to good use. Stick is good to walk home with.

Psh. If you can even reach me when I’m slapping the shit out of you with my awesome stick.

9
sh.itjust.works

I'll take both and you can't do shit.

Or I'll come after you with my rock and stick.

4

With a strap? I'm taking the rock, but if it's CQC? Sharpened stick every time. Spear > staff > sword, etc.

3

For my quest? Hmm. Sticks are pretty useful. However In fantasy quests rocks are often runes that can hold powerful spells.

3

The rock . . . and a piece of string to wind around.

2

Ahem

ROCK AND STONE

I'm lying actually, I'm a stick kinda guy
