TIL that not all life relies on the sun for energy. Some organisms, like deep-sea vent bacteria, use a process called chemosynthesis to convert compounds like amonia to produce energy. Since there's no sunlight for photosynthesis, these organisms form the lowest level of the food chain underwater

I wonder if this type of life is an indication that life might exist on other planets in the solar system using similar…
It is considered “proof that life CAN exist on other plants” just as our existence is prof that life like ours can exist on other planets. It’s not radical except that it expands the number/type of planets that we could hope to find life on.

Can we settle this: how many holes does a straw have?

When you get a hole in your pants, you don’t say you have two holes (unless the gunshot is through and through). You say you have “a hole” in your pants. The straw just happens to be much “thicker” than your pants.

I’m happier with my coffee if it DOESN’T burn my lips or tongue.

On Planned Obsolescence of brain implants. This is effed up if there are no rules preventing such stuff from happening.

I had not considered this before. But given past behavior of tech companies, I don’t know why!
“Your hardware is too old, we can’t keep paying the developers to write code for that old thing, upgrade or else.”
I’ve had brain surgery before (I’m fine, I actually now have proof I posses a brain!). The bill for it was horrendeous! I have wonderful healthcare that paid for all but an ER copay and an MRI copay, but it would have bankrupted me to have my head opened up.
I can’t imagine having to go through that every couple of years because some tech company won’t support the old hardware in my head!

If I tried to write like that I would never be able to keep up in class! If I tried to transcribe my notes with that level of penmanship I would drive myself insane!!

It would be great to have a search icon on the Home list. I was reading an article and bumped the home button and lost the article.

Grab a piece of bread (any type will do), spread a bit of butter on it, and sprinkle some sugar on top. It's that simple, yet it's so delicious. You have an easy, budget snack

When I was growing up we used a mix of cinnamon and sugar for our cheap bread snacks.
We used to keep a small shaker of mixed cinnamon and sugar at the table just for morning toast.
