Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold feels like the end of an era

Reply in thread

My use case is for being on call for server admin stuff. A foldable is less bulky than a laptop or even a tablet and I can run enough of a Linux environment to get me through whatever might come up. Completely worth the price for me to be less tied down with the trappings of my work.

Now the ones that are like a normal phone size and fold into a square, those I don't understand. All the problems of a foldable with none of the benefits.

Teen Boys Are Using Meta Glasses to Harass and Bully Girls at High Schools and Middle Schools

A reminder to everyone blaming parents: these children are growing up in a world where privacy doesn't exist, so how could they value it? Corporations are targeting them and influencing their opinions and changing norms with resources a parent couldn't even dream of. Blaming parents is an individualistic solution to a systemic problem. We're not going to suddenly get better parents anyway, sorry.

Don't buy normal trousers belts, instead buy elastic belts which can last literally for life

There's quite a range of quality and durability in denim, but it can be extremely durable. It was associated with physical labor in the US for a long time and especially in its old West (cowboys, railway workers, etc). You can still find a pair of jeans that will last you the rest of your life and then be sold in a vintage store, but they're not cheap. Cargo pants have a similar range but I think they're typically made of duck canvas.

After seeing how poorly people behaved during the pandemic, I just can't believe that shaming is a useful tool. Antivaxxers were proud they were putting others at risk. That was not a small number of people. I knew individuals that could not even be shamed by those closest to them. I do not believe in shame as a tool for social change and the vague points you make about it do not fit with my actual experience. Not for individuals and sure as hell not for corporations or politicians.

Didn't see one from you when I posted and still don't see one, so my guess is something to do with federation. Good name in any case so consider the upvotes yours.
