‘This shouldn’t be normal’: developers speak out about bigotry on Steam, the world’s biggest PC gaming storefront

bigoted reviews posted on games’ Steam pages, which can hugely affect sales for their developers; and Steam curators (self-appointed taste-makers on the platform) directing campaigns against games they perceive to lean left or pursue inclusion.

This fucking shit again. Reviews affect sales? Well, good. You don't get to carefully select a few most-read outlets who'll give you the thumb up. Also, chud curators are "directing" only those who follow them. This argument is about a failing industry that'd like to control what can be said about their products. Make no mistake, Steam's openness in this regard is, for me as a customer at least, added value.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Team Disbanded After Critically Lauded Platformer Fails to Meet Expectations - Report

Fuck you, Ubi. Apart from all your shitty practices, it's a 15-hour game that's 40€ with a 50€ complete edition and cosmetics bullshit. That shit won't fly anymore. I might get it in two years when it's 10€, but only if your kill your launcher as a requirement.

edit: also, it came out a month ago. Learn to suck on the long tail of sales before you sacrifice your employees to Chtulhu, they'll just make their own vaguely middle eastern platformers in Unity or UE and make more money than your shitty company.

Android users, what's stopping you from switching to an iPhone?

  • Firefox with ublock and a normal engine

  • Newpipe for downloading stuff off YT

  • OSMand for offline navigation

  • f-droid for foss software

  • Rethink to carefully ban everything that doesn't need internet from connecting

  • a phone with a nice amoled screen and all-day quickcharging battery that costs 180€ (motorola g52)

  • not one ad anywhere

a better question is, why would I want anything else? An iphone seems like a sharp downgrade.
