Why Won't the Media Mention Israel's Nukes?

Reply in thread

They have literally come very close to launching them when they were losing a few battles during the Yom Kippur war when Golda Meir ordered them readied to be launched. She then extorted Nixon for supplies because if he didn’t agree to airlift in help she’d order them launched.

Like this isn’t crazy talk. They have a known policy under which they will take the entire region with them if they fall.

It’s worth considering and talking about and just because you don’t know basic history surrounding this doesn’t mean others are stupid for considering it a possibility.

“Would you believe if I told you I voted for this man?” she said, referring to Trump.

You don't get to tell people who are harmed, oppressed, and marginalized that they have to play nice with their oppressors. If you choose to take that task upon yourself, that's fine and noble but you don't tell a rape victim that they have to speak to their rapist after they realize they might have done something wrong. That's not how this works. That person wanted LGBTQ people harmed. Point blank. You don't tell LGBTQ people to play nice with them now.

Yes, I understand the political calculus at play. Yes, I'm an activist and organizer with over 20 years of experience in this. Yes, I know what's at stake.

Too bad. That's now how it works. My advice, keep people like her clear of people who will call her stupid (and worse), not the other way around.

And when she ACTUALLY understands why she's a horrid person, maybe then others will be willing to not attack her.

Until then, she's unrepentant, unreformed, and a repugnant human being and many will rightfully tell her that in no uncertain terms.

I'm a pubes girl myself

When I was a kid I’d just pluck the pubes off the broccoli and eat only those but as I got older I’ve learned to enjoy the whole shaft plus the pubes. Especially when they’ve had some heat and are black.

There ya go! The answer you didn’t want but got anyway.

United argues 'window seat' does not mean 'seat with a window'

Reply in thread

Would you have the same opinion it if they didn’t include a seat either? Since there are two words at play here and we’re apparently making gross allowances for meaning in one could we do the other? Would it be acceptable if they placed you near the area with a seat?

"Seat” refers only to the location allocated near to a row of seats, not a guarantee of actual place to sit.

What kind of legal linguistic creep are we going to tolerate under this heading of "common fucking sense"?

The Arab American community that helped propel Trump is now grappling with lran war's fallout

Reply in thread

Here’s an alternative perspective on that alternative perspective.

Their Hail Mary as you described it relied on a known factor of persecution of immigrants of all types, the LGBTQ+ community, the entirety of anyone who is (or is perceived to be) a “leftist”, and women as a whole.

So, they were willing to sell out all those people to be thrown in known horrors that were only going to ratchet up even further for their Hail Mary.

Sure it’s a Sophie’s Choice situation maybe I guess but also. Fuck em.

They gambled with the future of so many people. Including their own.

Don’t worry I still blame the base of American voters who we all know are the ride or die’s for this bullshit but there’s enough blame to go around to look at those margins that pushed it past the tipping point.

Yeah, I “get it”.

But, as someone who’s in a few of those above categories it’s not something I’ll soon be forgiving nor forgetting.

‘It’s perpetuated this news cycle’: Frustration mounts in Trump’s orbit about messaging on latest Epstein documents

Truth is...difficult to ascertain at the moment regarding this. He is implicated in the files, there is a witness statement.

A generous reading would say something along the lines of, there isn't hard evidence and he hasn't been convicted.

A realistic reading would say something along the lines of, yep - he did it.

Take your pick. I'm more inclined towards the later.

I have to respect them for fulfilling the delusional wishes of a tyrant? Cooooool. Maybe sit down, read some US military history that wasn’t published by a bootlicker and then circle back after you have a nice long think.

You’ve said I have to respect a group that voluntarily (while acknowledging the power of propaganda and the existence of the poverty draft) commits war crimes regularly and generally leeches off the American system (military spending) because why again? Sorry, you lost me.

Because the admin asks them to do “insane things” and they do it. Yeah. Jesus. Insane things like invading foreign countries for the betterment of business interests or toppling legally elected leaders that we happen to not like. Sure bud.

Again. Read some more, have a loooong think and try again.

Protesters set fire to Nepal's parliament building.

Oh look an ml address. Y’all are like the conspiracy theorists who think that aliens or whatever control every single human move except it’s always the US or the west.

It’s also some of the most racist, patriarchal, patronizing bullshit as well. There’s no world in which “those people” could have done anything of their own volition. Of course they fell under the magic spell of the US.

Condescending fuckwit.

...but ten 1000 person marches across the city would cripple us

If anyone would like to read the source for that statement, it comes from a July, 2020 survey of LAPD officers.

The original quote, only attributed to “one participant” was, “We can handle one 10,000-person protest, but 10 1,000-person protests throughout the city will overwhelm us.”
