It only counts when I say it does

I'd say it's even simpler than that, it's just tribalism.

$person has criticized our gracious $monarch. They deserve to die!

$person speaks against $religion and is a heretic. They deserve to die!

$person made fun of $fascist_leader. They deserve to die!

$person goes against $party. They deserve to die!

Whoever is in power speaks absolute truth. Be it a fascist leader, a church, a communist party or a monarch. Opposing that truth is heresy/treason/counter-revolutionary/evil and should be severely punished.

Suicide notes aren't that ubiquitous, I recall reading (and Wikipedia confirms this) that less than half are accompanied by such a note.

I'd also suspect that a possible misinterpretation as murder generally isn't a very high priority for suicidal people. At least I haven't ever heard about this sentiment reported anywhere (though I am not involved in suicide research whatsoever and only citing memories from documentaries and similar).

Arch users when they discover they contain 98% "bloated" Junk DNA:

To be honest, DNA is stupid anyway. Worst data format ever invented.

I mean, a single mutation to get sickle cell anemia? Use fucking error correction codes, dammit! No, having everything twice is not error correction. It's only error detection and the detected error is just silently ignored and randomly passed on to your offspring.

Where are the damn backups? 3-2-1 should hold for every data format! How would an offsite backup be designed? I don't know I'm not evolution incorporated.

Why are viruses even a thing??? There is no reason EVER to be able to insert new DNA into your genome. Make it read only! With checksums! Why is there no Denuvo DNA-DRM?

Slightly unrelated but even worse, your immune system is literally only controlled by the equivalent of HTTP. Deactivate completely? Attack everything on sight? No authorization required whatsoever! Just use the public API! Surely nothing could exploit this, right??

Small Edit as a response to everyone mentioning the need to change for evolution:

Maybe, just maybe use a test environment? You don't just push to production the moment you make a change. Move fast and break things my ass. Since women already have the production environment just create a similar structure in men! They already have TESTicles after all.

Alpha rule

Aaaahh please use punctuation

It would make it infinitely more understandable if you wrote:

Normalize saying "is that a furry thing?" whenever a guy says he is an alpha

Study of men who embodied a young woman in VR finds they felt disgust & anger when catcalled

I wish they had tested all 8 scenarios: Male/female participant, male/female body, catcalled/not catcalled.

Because even as a man I don't feel comfortable being alone at a subway station at night. Nor can I imagine would I then enjoy being catcalled.

I wonder how much your VR body seen in a mirror affects this. My gut says not a lot but more data would've been great.

Now, if your own VR body does affect your reaction there must be bodies which maximize/minimize reactions. That'd be fun to test. You don't even have to limit yourself to human bodies, what if you're, say, a dinosaur (with body height still being the same)?

Ok, but the second tweet is a bit redundant

Like what else would a .log file be? A video file? A Word Document? An executable?

Do you really need to inspect the properties to be told: "This .log file is certainly containing text. Thank you for installing Windows 10. Save 5% on your Office 365 subscription with code 'ILOVEMICROSOFT'"
