The Commodore Callback 8020 flip phone looks like it’s from decades ago but its price was definitely a sign of today’s times. That’s changed, with Commodore’s announcement today that it will drop the price $100 for most models before pre-orders start next week.

The phone caused a stir when it was announced a week ago. First, there was the thrill of 80s computing legend Commodore making a phone. Then the phone being retro in both look and function caught attention, with a flip-phone form factor combined with a focus on privacy. But one of the most unique features of the Callback 8020 is that it runs Android apps on Linux-based Sailfish OS instead of Android. Among all of the praise though, was criticism that a $500 starting price for the basic models was too high.

Police are continuing their investigation into the fatal drowning of an American kayaker on Okanagan Lake late last week and have issued a “tragic reminder” following the incident. At approximately 7:13 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026, West Kelowna RCMP received reports that two kayakers had capsized near Westbank First Nation Beach after encountering sudden wind conditions. “Both individuals attempted to swim to shore; however, one kayaker went under the water and did not resurface,” said police in an update on Tuesday, June 23. “Neither kayaker was wearing a personal flotation device at the time of the incident.”

Don't know if anyone has tried or if it's well known, but I did. There was a brief period where I could wake it with my Xbox series controllers but then valve pulled the feature for bugs which I never experienced.

I first tried with the dongle which wakes it as expected on my Linux desktop and my steam deck. Then I paired it with Bluetooth mode and was able to wake it without issue.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has taken the unprecedented step of suspending recently approved citizenship certificates and ordering recipients to return them for review.

In explaining its decision to restart the procurement process, the provincial government strongly suggested in its Monday news release that the move was due to cost escalation with the selected contractor, which had helped complete the project’s detailed technical design work.
