the number of places you can eat at went from like 99% of restaurants to like 97% because of vegan places opening up. youre not a victim here.

Amazon expected this co-op party game to draw in 100,000+ active players, but it hit an all-time peak of just 320 on Steam and now it's closing for good just 6 months after it launched

Former Nippon Ichi Software president says the “salaryman-ification” of Japan’s game industry is why there are fewer “individual creators” like Hideo Kojima and Suda51 - AUTOMATON WEST
imo this and the enshittification of games are symptoms of the same root cause. games are too big and expensive now. one auteur on a 1000 person team can't have the same level of impact as one auteur on a 10 person team. they definitely have fewer opportunities to develop their reputation/skill/style on big teams

Make Microsoft's CEO cry by installing Chrome's 'Microslop' extension

what is good remote desktop software?
if you can afford the hardware, getting something dedicated like a JetKVM is nice because you don't have to wait for VNC software to boot. since it acts like a monitor and keyboard, you can even enter BIOS with it. JetKVM sells an extension board that you could hook up to your server motherboard's power buttons to turn it on/off too.
for fully software solutions, i like using apollo on the server and moonlight on the clients. it's built for game streaming, but it works for remote desktop too. i have apollo and moonlight installed on a bunch of my devices anyways so this saves me from installing an additional client most of the time.

current capitalist approaches are being exploited RIGHT NOW to consolidate wealth and power (see: kushner buying the lakers, ellison buying warner bros and thats just los angeles alone). i'd much rather have a handful of everyman freeloaders than concentrated greed.

ive personally found LLM coding to be pretty effective if i adhere to very strict "engineering best practices" like TDD, good documentation, thorough API design, systems design, etc.
im very afraid that the next generation of software engineers will never develop the skills needed to make the most out of it because they skipped the rudiments of good software engineering.
to me it feels like playing jazz without learning scales. it's possible to be an incredible jazz musician without formal training if you're a savant... but you're probably not.

i can't believe after the dissolution of checks and balances and the ongoing kidnapping of hispanic people nationwide we're still having this conversation.
obviously newsom is actively awful. but calling it "both candidates want to fuck the world" is so narrow-minded knowing everything that is happening to america every day right now.
it's frustrating to be an american and be given two choices who both suck. one choice sucks so much more. not playing along in this fucked up democracy puts american people in danger.

Cult of Anthropic Insiders Rumored to Be Worshipping Claude as a God
the Effective Altruists / Effective Accelerationists / Rationalists that started OpenAI and Anthropic are cult members anyways. Rolling Stone reported this in 2024. WIRED reported about the murderous sect in 2025.
the guy who made the rounds last week about the 10% chance of killing us is one of the key figures in the Rationalist movement. his fear is stemmed in religious fervor, not socioeconomic equity.
these people have always been deeply unwell.
