The good news is that if lemmy.world becomes that, you can go to another lemmy instance that might not be

Lemmy.world’s position on Meta’s newly launched Threads
This was posted on mastodon.world, also ran by Ruud [email protected] - Update regarding Meta/Threads:
We hear that the Threads app is coming July 6th. It will at first not support ActivityPub, so it can't talk to Mastodon yet. That will be added later.
We're very much in agreement with @tchambers , see https://www.timothychambers.net/2023/07/03/instagram-threads-and.html As he said: ““Watching Like A hawk, with our fingers on the block button.” We will NOT be pre-emptively taking a “Fediblock as a Frist Strike” position.”

Second largest Lemmy instance preemptively un-friends Facebook
Its a .net? Is that going to be a more expensive top level domain now?

I put another few hours in after work today and got slowed down a couple of times, but studying the instruction manual has gave me some pointers and I am loving that aspect of it

Great audiobook narrations?
I haven't heard this Silmarillion, but I really enjoyed The Expanse narrated by Jefferson Mays.

I just picked it up this sale and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Other than it being talked about on The Besties podcast and how much they liked it, and how you're picking up instruction booklet as you go I didnt know much about it. Getting lost occasionally but loving looking for hints in the booklet and not looking it up online instead.

looking to expand my mind. What are some good non-fiction titles I should read?
Ive been doing something similar recently and I think the general advice is usually, think of a topic you're interested in and look for 'good' books in that topic.
That being said here is a couple of books I picked kind of randomly because I liked the sound of them Into Thin Air: A Personal Account Of The Everest Disaster - Jon Krakauer Spying on Whales: The Past, Present, and Future of Earth's Most Awesome Creatures - Nick Pyenson What We Owe the Future - William MacAskill
